Was looking for one of these to mirror my Iphone and this is the cheapest I could find, albeit it's a refurb, it does have a 12 month warranty.

cheers

Can u stream mac book and ipad screens directly ie play games, browse Internet and do all the stuff or is it just media transfer like with Google chromecast?

I know it mirrors my iphone screen but I can't say about those. Literally via wifi (airplay) exactly what you see on your iphone screen you can see on whatever screen you connect the Apple TV to.

Absolutely pointless piece of kit, I say that as a Mac and iPad owner, I have said this before, I have had more use from a £10 Now TV box with plex side loaded on it than I ever did with the Apple TV.

I wouldn't even contemplate this product. Absolute waste of time and money.

Second that.

How big is it??

ok but I have a mac book so if I could wirelessly extend mbp screen to my tv and use it for let's say programming, playing games, browsing Web, this feature would be enough for me to make it worth it, especially with my new 55 inch sony w9;)

Yes it also mirrors iPad and MacBook

I wanted to sell my ipad but now... I have to reconsider it hah buy or not to buy

Over priced piece of poo

Now TV, Raspi, WD TV, Chromecast, Android stick all better and half the price. Typical apple product, looks nice but lacks substance.

Can I mirror my iphone/iPad using now tv?

Get the Tronsmart S89 it's really good!
I just ordered from geekbuying, geekbuying.com/ite…tml

I wouldn't go anywhere near this to be honest. An Apple Tv 1st Gen is a different kettle of fish, jailbreak it and install XBMC on it and then you have something special.
You can also install a Crystal HD card for good measure to make it 1080p.

All of you guys say its poo, but is there another device allowing to wirelessly stream pc/tablet/phone on the tv? (which is no poo). I have a mbp, iPad and note 3 just in case (of course note wouldn't work with apple tv anyway)

Get a new one instead. Argos aren't certified refurbishers, so by refurbished they actually mean reboxed customer return".

You've managed to sum crApple products up nicely : only useful if you hack them.

It depends on how new your Macbook is..

Nothing that works as well as the AppleTV at least. The closest I have used is installing AirServer on a PC connected to my TV and while it is usable, it is a little buggy (crashes every now and then).

There are other better media centres available on the market, but as a way of stream what's on your Apple device to the TV, it can't be beat. However there are rumours of a updated version coming out this year which will be much faster and support Apps, but if it does come out, probably won't be here until September.

Edit: It should probably be pointed at that this isn't the same as Chromecast. Chromecast (while having limited support on iOS) doesn't actually stream content from your device. If you are saying watching a movie on Netflix, the Chromecast will simply stream the movie itself.

Fantastic bits of kit especially in a corporate environment.

Airplay is just perfect, we have a these setup in meetings rooms so people can wireless do presentations from iPads and MacBooks.

Got them two at home personally, nothing tops airplay, great for when you get family around and want to show of holiday pics to family, a lot better than getting the old photo albums out.

Almost bargain.

chromecast allows for media streaming which I don't need. I would like to see what I see on my laptop, or even better make an extended screen, separately to laptop screen. why chromecast if I have smart tv? pointless, but this apple tv airplay concept- me like! I have mbp retina late 2013 so I guess it would work (@ comment about compability)

Doesn't take long for the anti apple brigade to come on does it? I love this device, I can stream all my movies from my mac to the TV, got a good quality sound bar so I also stream my music from itunes either from my mac or from my iphone or ipad. It can mirror exactly whats on my devices. Tell me how NowTV can do that. If you just want to turn your telly into a smart TV then by all means get something else but that's not the reason I use mine.

I had this for my birthday looks swish
But its complete pants!

Sold it the month after it doesn't do much literally connects your phone to the tv good for £20 at best!!!

you can easily get non mac..I.e. android to work with Apple tv ...not mirroring, but streaming images, video is easy plenty of apps support it.

better off with an older version and putting xbmc on it

You're better off getting an Android TV Box/Stick if XBMC is your goal.

A 2nd gen is well over £100, saw one in CEX yesterday for £150!

I use mine to stream Napster to my amp from my ipad mini. I also have a Squeezebox Touch but prefer using the ipad because there are way more options. I don't know of a better way to stream music without losing too much quality. Better range than bluetooth and much better quality IMO.

Purchased one from the Argos Outlet, not a referb at all. Customer return, battered box, not packaged correctly, bits missing, dirty...

Don't purchase one expecting a refurb like Apple (who I've used for ipod and phone etc)

Typical response to Apple Products.

WE use an apple tv - its good for us. We have ipads and can mirror from them, however we don't use this much. What we use the apple tv for is watching netflix, you tube videos (kids, not me) and flickr, where you can view all your photos on the big screen. When it goes to standby the photos are scrolled on tv as a slide show. We like it!

I have a note 3 and Apple tv3 and it will mirror all movies from showbox on it . Not sure if it's because I put the Allcast app on it though?

Does Chromecast work with the likes of Sky Go so I can watch video?

Worth it for HBO Go & Premier League Pass. Oh and all Netflix regions too.

If that's all you think it can do then you must struggle with a basic calculator
