Nice rug, 100% wool. Ikea?
cool, but what is the warranty like on a ASUS refurbished laptop? Does anybody know?
"Manufacturer Warranty 12 months limited hardware warranty"
Incredible deal. I5 ASUS for £300.

Would have bought had I not got the I3 Lenovo a while back.
I wouldn't go for the 1st gen i3.
i5 would be ok.
good deal - heat added
I bought a very similar model to this a couple of months ago from Currys. It is a 4gb and I love it! It is very fast and responsive and an added bonus is that it has 'ice cool' which keeps the palm rests cool. I paid £279, which included £200 off. I had not thought about getting an ASUS until I saw this one - great battery life too.
Too much info..Fn+↑: Stop :(!!!

Good deal though..have some heat
no way can that play farcry 2 on inbuilt GMA graphics lol

irekpa - do you think its worth paying £50 more for the difference?
good find
No hdmi on the model quoted? Not sure if the other £249 with HDMI listed but with a 500gb hdd. This seems to be original price £349 as others have original price £399 but less memory and diskspace, I'm confused.

For an extra £50 you get faster CPU but loose 140GB on storage so in my case it isn't worth it but for some people it may be

How much was the rug?
The out of stock Sandybridge i5 and i7 with bluray and discrete graphics would have been a really good deal.
I have ordered a 2nd gen i5, the one with usb 3 and discrete graphics left so I'll see if they are any good. It being some independant German company instead of Asus themselves did put me off a little but at least if there is something wrong with it I should get the return postage back as well. They don't give a return address out until you contact them for a RMA number which makes me wary and I feel it could be because you have to send it to Germany or they are just trying to make it hard for you to return within 7 days.

I forgot to mention I also took a case for my Nexus 7 at £15 which made it slightly cheaper because of the notebook and accessory money of deal on the main page.

No cheap upgrade to Win 8 though. I had hoped to take advantage of that just so I had the option to install 8 at some point.
Refurbished old kit? Great! Lets buy two each...

Seriously I wouldn't want the original i3 / i5 kit at this price.

At £349 the ASUS N55SF 2nd gen i5-2430m with GT555m and a Blu-ray player (and maybe even a 1600x900 or full HD screen) was a very hot deal.

A new IvyBridge i5 might only be a little more; but not with a good GPU and Blu-ray.

...but what a pity you missed the i7-2670 with GT555m for the same price!

Delivered today, well pleased. Thanks
Mine arrived today. Brand new, cellophane covered :-)
Old i5 maybe but unless the naysayers can do better than was offered it was the best deal for those of us on a budget.
Cheers OP :-)
Mine came today as well. Came with a bluray drive and not just a dvd writer as advertised so that's a bonus. It looks like new with all the plastic screen and case covering in place but did have a refurbished sticker on the outside of the box and it looks like there had been a previous seal on the box which had been replaced with a new one (Of course it could just be that they mucked up putting on the first or opened the box to check at some point.

The Asus Nexus 7 case I bought to take advantage of the money off deal isn't up to much. It's very much like one of those 99p rubber skins you can get for phones but with a front cover that just flops into place without anything to keep it closed. I can't believe Asus want £15 for them!
