Old processor that is 5 years old! I bet my smart phone is faster than that

Well, it was pretty fast when it was released and hasn't got any slower! The SSD probably makes it react a couple of generations faster than you might think.

I'm using an even older CPU and yet I was able to add you to my ignored-list in a couple of seconds.

I misread that and thought you said the 5 years thing not the other guy as the quotes didn’t appear!

Yes it’s shocking how uninformed and downright lazy some people are - most people with any IT knowledge whatsoever are pretty aware that most of the advancements in the last 5 years have been to power efficiency and onboard graphics not raw performance (which was always good enough since Sandy Bridge). TLDR, i5-3xxx quad-core CPU is still fast enough today for almost any task.

You get a free new keyboard & mouse included! Must be worth a couple of bob in itself.
You can get 10 pro for £20 more.
I have several 2nd gen i3s and i5s of these Dell USFFs and they work very well as office/Internet computers, also there are 2 concerns.

1. USFFs have no PCIe expansion slots for a dedicated video card, so forget playing higher end games that need one.
2. Meltdown and Spectre exploits could 'potentially' wreak havoc on these in the near future, if you do have them connected to the Internet.

Patches for most types of meltdown/spectre will be released on the os level, however, it will cause a performance drop (up to 30% by one estimate) for different types of operations.

So may be an issue for eg. Virtual machine usage but may be ok for low power stuff

Cpu performance has been rather stagnant the last few years, its not like the 90s or 2000s.

I bought a Dell 990 USFF with a Core i5 back in June, for my son as a gaming rig. I had to transplant it to a different case & upgrade the PSU, but put in a full-sized GeForce 770 and it runs fine and plays most games very well.
Anyone know if I can downgrade to windows 7 on this. I know it would support win 7 but if it comes pre installed with win 10, how can I set up win 7 (using same key perhaps??)

I think you mean SFF. The USFF models don't have any PCIe slots on the motherboard.

Just finished supporting 100s of these in corporate environment and they're pretty much bullet-proof in terms of a solid everday work machine.
Careful with this company what you see in the pic is not what you get. Had issues on last deal as graphics card pictured but not provided. Customer service was shockingly rude

That should be easy to work out, what phone do you have?
A great machine - I've got the slightly bigger brother (SFF) as my work computer and I haven't felt the need to replace it with any of the 4 generations of desktop that we've certified since.

Thanks OP.

Nice find especially for one with an SSD and quad-core. I admit though I'm not such a fan of the USFF due to proprietary power supply and lack of expansion but if it runs fine then crack on.
Very decent spec for budget computer that even includes Windows. Heat added.

Ignore the hardware snobs. This will do a very good job for a lot of people.
Pardon my ignorance - Are Dell more vulnerable to Meltdown threats, or is it just the age?

Does Windows 10 Pro - up to date - help at all?

still in stock

weird, they must have found some more down the back of the sofa. When I clicked the link it said No Stock!
avoid itzoo, ripoff cowboys, my computer arrived smashed and they just ignored all communication. only the threat of a civil court claim elicited any response. AVOID

my computer arrived smashed and they just ignored all communication.

I ordered an AIO 3 weeks ago and it came smashed to peices, ONE phone call and it was picked up the following day..

I have plenty of monitors so I bought one from this deal instead of waiting for another AIO to come into stock. No hesitation buying from them!
My experience of receiving smashed AIO here (not bad) :
hotukdeals.com/dea…961
I'd hope the OptiPlex models fare better in transit; or maybe it's just the same smashed AIO doing the rounds ...

wouldn't surprise me if they only loaded (say) 20 into their stock but had another 20 or 50 not quite ready (but ready enough) that might as well go into stock if it's selling through nice & fast, so added more

It's often the way a complainant starts off & handles the complaint that determines whether you are treated with a polite, prompt solution (or conversely like a pain in the backside, because you made yourself one from the first word). Itzoo will certainly know their selling obligations and if a computer delivered by them has faults, they will resolve it, for sure. They have to, by law - plus they offer a 12 month warranty.

For the record, my son's Itzoo HP i7 last month arrived perfectly packaged with large amounts of bubble wrap and a sturdy cardboard box, a new keyboard & mouse, & worked perfectly as expected.
I returned an all in one to them a couple of weeks ago. Shame because it was a nice unit and just right for what I needed, but very noisy and the SSD was faulty - extremely slow read/writes.

Took a few mails (both mail and the online RTA form) to get a response.
And another reminder to get a collection arranged.
And another reminder a couple of weeks later to get the actual refund paid.
So it did get resolved in the end, but let's say that the customer experience could be improved...

These Dell units look very neat and good price also.

I'm using this processor with 16GB of ram, and a GTX 1060 6GB. It kicks the ass off any game I throw at it, on Medium/High settings. It's a nice little CPU

Not sure why you'd want to but win 10 key won't work on win 7
CPU is fine for most tasks, my similar 3450 still crunches data no problem, HD video editing is fine. This machine will be fine for most users I suspect

it comes with VGA port, 2 x DisplayPort - for connecting to monitors, looks like it's a standard & a mini DP

no HDMI port

you can easily get conversion cables (eg VGA to HDMI) if you want to run HDMI eg ebay.co.uk/itm…~8x
this is for stuff like roblox anyone know if could play sims 4 on it

There is a small keyring type tab at the top rear, pull that out and Viola, Win 7 key!
This is a very well specced machine for the price. Heat added. 6301 is a very healthy CPU Benchmark score. And the fact it has an SSD, not an HDD, would make this lightning fast.

As long as it doesn't arrive smashed, it's a bargain.
