Found 29th Mar
Looking at a cheap iPad to buy I came across this and convinced myself to go for it. It is in pristine condition and at this price (including 12 months warrenty from Apple + the possibility to go for apple care) is a good deal, I think!

If you are interested, hurry cause stock is limited!

128gb model for £299 (in case you want more space)

All the Apple devices we have were bought this way and we've never had a problem.
every ipad i've ever had was a refurb from apple - all 100% perfect.

forgot to mention this is the 2017 model so just been replaced by the newer 2018 which in my case doesn't do anything more since I don't really care about the pencil and a more powerful processor
Plus 2% Quidco
I'm been out of the iPad loop since 2nd Gen, so genuine question, which would be the better purchase, this one, or this one

??
Would this be the method Apple would use to sell their remaining stock of new 2017 Ipads?

I prefer to save some cash since my previous one broke and couldn't even fix it. cheaper is better... Plus you could even get a 2% with Quidco or in my case avios for my next trip (4 avios for each £1)

IF you think you might like to use the iPad with an apple pencil then the newer one is a must, (pencil is about £90 I think)

The only other difference is a faster processor, claimed to be about 40% faster, though if it makes a massive difference in real usage is unknown as yet.

It is indeed much faster, quad core processor versus dual core in this model. Because it has 2 high efficiency cores (low clock speed) and 2 power cores (high clock speed) it kicks in when the power is needed. For example, when you are browsing the web or watching videos etc. only the low clock speed cores are in operation which means greater battery life as well. Should be around an hour or so of real life usage.

If in doubt I would go for the new one for the sake of £70 (if you can get unidays or such like). It will be much more future proof. In fact the 2018 iPad is faster than iPad Pro 2016. You will have an ability of apple pencil if needed as an added bonus

Terrible reviews on trust pilot, nearly all of them saying its a scam website and horrific customer service, i would avoid at all costs if i were you
I think those 'cheaper' deals are all for imports, and there are loads of bad reports online for TobyDeals. Buying one that way seems far more risky to me, also in terms of warranty?

I'm considering a new Ipad as my old Mini 2 has a crack in the screen and the cost to repair is almost £200. This seems a reasonable deal at £239 albeit for the 2017 model, cannot justify £320 for the new one.

With the release of the 2018 model I am hoping there will be some clearance deals on the 2017 version.

Good summary. All the key points together with advice covered in one paragraph (two short ones to be precise). As a general guide unless you are really strapped for cash, go for the newer one. You'll soon forget about the extra cash you've paid. I've never regretted doing so but i have regretted getting older tech 'cheap'.

No chance from Apple, unless you go refurb like this. Maybe third party retailers.

In my experience they don't. They just call them 'refurbished' as a means of discounting. If it looks brand new, and it does every time, and is fully warrantied, it's functionally new.
Bit the bullet
Is this better than the ipad air 2? I read something a while ago saying the air 2 had a better screen?
Shame no iphones for sale via this method

It's much faster, however, the screen is much better on Air 2, I believe it has Retina display and is fully laminated, this one does not have a retina display and has an air gap between the glass and the lcd panel.
Original Poster
It has actually got a retina display
  • 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology
it is not laminated YES and there is the gap between lcd and touch which potentially can be a good thing as if it cracks at least you don't have to spend lots of money to replace both glass and lcd!
Don't forget the possibility/option Apple give for you to trade in your old iPad (only iPad 2 and newer)

Selling my 2013 iPad Air on eBay would only make me an extra £30 (after fees and P&P) over the Apple estimated trade in value of £125.

So less than £200 for the new entry level iPad with the A10 chip is a good deal for me
Didn't know you could trade in at Apple, got an iPad Air
Do apple ever have refurbished iPhones for sale ?
My cousin works for Apple & he introduced me to the refurb section where I snapped up a larger screen iMac saving around £500 on new.

He tells me literally all the stock is as good as brand new. Most these items have been bought by customers and sent straight back because they no longer wanted the product upon receiving the parcel.
Refurbished these days just means reselling. They don't actually change anything (new casing etc) which is a shame. I guess though if your looking for used, Apple's stock is probably in the best condition out there.
Fantastic!

Only gold 128GB left at £299... decision made for me. Need one for work! Happy have some heat!

Most devices these days can't be opened without literally destroying them. Apple wouldn't go to the trouble considering the volume they have through trade ins etc.

It's more likely most these refurbished units are unused returns or excellent grade items which is why they are pristine.

No. See the product description.
