I'm not sure that you'd want to run Windows on this. It'll be painfully slow. I picked up a similar machine some time ago and turned it into a Chromebook by replacing Windows with ChromeOS Flex. It's perfect for general browsing and simple tasks and the lack of storage isn't an issue if used in this way. I take it when I'm away from home. As corred1964 said, if something happens to it eg lost or stolen, it's not much to lose!

It can't be turned into a full Chromebook as it'll be missing some custom chips but CromeOS Flex gives you most of the benefits and can be used on many old or underpowered machines. For installation advice, check out Leepspvideo's channel on YouTube.

Nice idea!  Wondering about an easy way to have dual OS on this with an easy selection at boot. Pick Win or Chrome OS. That would be a winner I think...

do you know if we can you upgrade the RAM?
    corred1964's avatar
No, the ram is soldered to the motherboard

Good price for a basic kids laptop, not much to lose if lost or damaged, shame it cannot have the RAM upgraded as it will struggle with 4Gb, will run W11, hdmi is useful on a small device

It's a gamble. I got one refurbished from Amazon Warehouse. It was BIOS locked (presumably an educational model) so I couldn't install a usable OS. Good news is Amazon refunded without question. Will this supplier?

I bought my 9 year old a Dell Latitude 3190. Screen is a bit naff, but the laptop is built like a tank and has a quad core processor for a bit more oompth. Would recommend that above this Geobook. The Dells are usually found for around £60 on eBay.

Hard to argue at this price, if the limitations aren't a concern. Hotted.

Not great at all, but reasonable as a first laptop for a small child. I think the price is good. Reluctantly, I voted hot.
