2rd Gen i5?

Probably a i5 2400 by the spec. Perfectly adequate if you just want something for browsing etc.
I've only just upgraded my 1st gen i5. I updated the graphics card many times but the processor kept doing the business. Not sure about shooters with their higher fps but I was playing Civ VI at 4k witg it so it will be fine for more than browsing if you stick a decent graphics card in there!
Reasonably well built machines, be warned though i'm pretty sure they use a proprietary power supply so not much scope for upgrade when it comes to graphics cards.

A low profile graphics card goes great in these machines. A 1050Ti would make a great low-mid level gaming rig. The 2400 still holds up despite it's age.

240 watt 70% efficient PSU with HP manual advising not to put any graphics in the SFF beyond 25Watts - your "great" I would temper with YMMV.
Get a GT 1030 in there

Yep. The weakest point of these SFF machines is the proprietary and almost always underpowered PSU.
sold out. Next best recommendations please?
People having mass debate about the power of £119.99 desktop pc lmao hukd the comedy site that keeps on giving!!
Don’t pay the extra for the WIN 10 upgrade, your WIN7/8 coa works fine and will legalize it still when you upgrade.
thx OP

8300 has 4 USB 3.0 ports which they don't mention. Does the 8200? It will be a quicker CPU of course but not a huge difference.

Thanks, I found that the Windows 7 Pro OA code on the older sticker worked when I clicked 'Change Product Key' in Windows Activation. It appears to now have an activated version of Windows 10 Pro.

It’s well know in the industry, MS wants everyone in the 10 platform or equivalent Server Versions going forward the only problem with 10 is the constant updates.
