Anyone managed to install Mint or Fedora on it with everything properly working? How about upgraded SSD?

How about upgraded SSD?

Sounds like a no go (video). The SSD memory is soldered to the mainboard.

Are you just after more storage? I use a 64GB Sandisk Fit USB drive with my Chromebook for offline videos and MP3. Available ~£20 - previous deal here.

Chromebooks have a locked boot loader and to install another OS you need to replace the BIOS eg. SEABIOS.or Dual boot to Linux with Crouton there is mention of it in this review: theregister.co.uk/Pri…ok/

The physical hardware for this unit has soldered in RAM and no stock SATA that I can see but with USB3 and SD card support you could boot of these?.

Toshiba hardware is generally very good I have one of there AC100 taltops (ARM Andriod from >3 years ago) their software updates are poor, but with the Chromebook the updates are direct from Google. This unit looks well made. Great price good screen and the Google and Office 360 suites all work perfectly on this unit. Offline doc editing is supported in Google docs.

The Acer 11.6" screen CB with 320gb HD can have linux installed the here is a custom BIOS and Linux supports the trackpad and keyboard (Windows does not support the built in KB or Trackpad so you need external ones!)

Does Office 360 have Track Changes? If not, are you aware of a suitable alternative that could be used on Chromebooks?

If you are used to Word and like to use MS Office then Office 360 might be right for you the interface is the same as Office 2013office.microsoft.com/en-…spx

Google docs and Sheet multiuser editing DOES NOT work the same as Microsoft. If I had a document open for editing in Word you could not edit it until I saved the changes and checked in the my changes (e.g. on SharePoint of O360) Google allows >1 person to edit a doc and you see the changes in real time!

Google docs has track changes capability and works off-line. Remember to synch your docs BEFORE you want to edit offline then edit what ever you need and when you are online it will re-sync. More infor about setting up off line editing here support.google.com/dri…=en

Track Changes was added back in 2010 to Google Docs
