Will the uni days code work?

Anyone had a refurb from Currys before and can recommend? Not my favourite retailer from past experience but not shopped there for a few years.

Good Points+
As I bought this as refurbished, it was very good value for money. Battery life is relatively longer time.

Bad Points−
Although it has got massive 8GB ram, it is not quite so fast.

Purchased refurbished but received as if it was new with the same warranty.

Bad Points−
None really.

Any good for gaming? Needing a laptop so my daughter can play sims 4.

Be Careful with curry/pcworld outlet laptops!
They

You use to be given a 12 month warranty with them, this isn't the case any more. It is based on classifications they give to the product, from A being the best, D: worst]

SSD or HDD?

Brand new price is £439 on Pc World eBay account

m.ebay.co.uk/itm…302

I bought the same laptop, but with touchscreen from HP direct at this time last year and it was nearly £650. So to me, this is a deal. Big time. Don't see a problem with it being a refurb personally.

TCB = 1.05% (£2.78) = £262.21 Maybe if it tracks.oO

12 month warranty

looks good to me.

That's great. 2 ordered for Christmas.

Why won't the uni days code work??? it just keeps bringing me to currys/PC world's homescreen

I can only presume it doesn't work on refurbs

This is an incredible price for 4th gen i5.

You'd probably be lucky to get i3 at this price sometimes! Maybe.

HD Graphics 4400 is decent but not very powerful. Maybe you can play Sims on low settings.

HD ready? I guess that is to be expected at this price, but I am not prepared to compromise. Full HD is the minimum I would want.

I bought this last month and I'm so happy with it. I upgraded it to windows 8.1 as 8 is awful. Mine arrived looking brand new, still can't see why it was classed as a refurb. I use it for uni & browsing & the battery lasts around 6 hours. Very impressed

HAHA

I got a HP refurb from curry's and it is currently in repair for the third time in three months. Usb3 doesn't work, fan doesn't work, makes strange noises when playing music, touch pad gestures don't work etc. Admittedly mine is an ultrabook and not this exact model.

If I were you guys I'd stay well clear of curry refurbished products. If it's refurbished by the tech guys. I sent my laptop off to them to be repaired 5 times and 5 times it came back with a different fault

Awesome battery life!

I've had Pcworld refurb which was faulty out of box and needed sending straight back then waited upto 3wks before it was tested and another being sent out.

I've never had a problem with my refurbd model hp I bought over a year ago from currys online.

You sure mate I think your keyboard is goosed

Anybody know if the windows 8 is 64 bit as the ram is 8gb? The max ram on windows 8 is 4Gb, I think!

You tend to only see the 32 bit version of Widows 8 on tablets.

Slow clock speed. (1.6 GHz)

OK thanks Agharta

I have a lenovo laptop with the same processor, there is a boost that kicks in when more power is needed (a more respectable 2.5ghz I think)
