Apple refurbs are excellent - I've bought a few and bar not being in retail boxes they have all been A1.

Surprised they are still charging nearly £60 for the 4gb 3rd gen nano though ...

No, thats not how they work. They are managed via iTunes

Bought a refurbished shuffle last week - brand new condition.

Is there much difference between this 3rd gen and the new 4gen ones?

Thanks. Remember 4% quidco also.

any warranty on refurb products from apple?

yeah 1 year

Declinced last time I brought a refurbed ipod

Yeah, the main one for me is the 3rd is more compatible with existing accessories

I'm hoping they start doing some of the newer gen ones soon

good one.. same here waiting for new gen

They declined the quidco? Surely then that should be noted in the conditions...that stinks. I just ordered one yesterday, so I hope it does work.

Main thing it's smaller and it also has motion sensor
The screen's longer on the 4th gen.
They are rugged though (3rd gen), went biking with my friends and he didn't realised he was dragging his ipod the whole way along the floor hanging out of his pocket :p.
Earphones aren't that nice and i've had a few fail on me.

Ordered as a gift for mothers day. Heat and rep added. Thanks:w00t:

Good price! I still think these look better than the new ones. They're so chubby and cute!

Different shape
Different internal hardware
Different software
Different colours

Yes!!

]sansa fuze

Better audio quality, more memory (even without the additional memory card - up to 32gb)
and cheaper. just in case you are looking for a alternative.

plus this is brand spanking new, not a sweaty pre owned effort... hehehe.

Thanks for that - after my walkman died (a month before the warranty expired, which is odd as most Sonys seem to die a month after the warranty expires!) I thought I'd have to buy an iPod but don't think itunes will work with my Linux PC.

Sansa fuse looks OK, but Sansa Clip for £25 from Amazon (plus £7.99 for a decent extended warranty/accidental damage cover that doesn't exclude anything you might actually claim for as Apple's warranty seems to) looks like a legitimate alternative to a Shuffle!

Boiling hot from me, although I reckon the 80gb classic for £113 inc vat is a better deal

inicholson, I use MediaMonkey, along with winamp and some other software works instead of iTunes, Amarok should support an iPod for Linux on Ubunutu or similar

What a tatty looking peice of kit. Do you like Saisho or Matsui by any chance :w00t:

The menu's look dire and hardly in the same league as an ipod.

I'd rather have a sweaty ipod than that tat any day.

Well it may look "tatty" to you but its extremely well made. Its made by one of the world's largest flash memory manufacturers(sandisk) - the heart of many mp3 players.

what good is a flashy menu without good sound quality!? are you really that superficial?

It has the same battery life, more memory and better sound than the ipod equivalent, so i'd say its in a higher class than the ipod. but if you love putting up with the horrible bloater software that is itunes then be my guest. why are apple fans so die hard? there are viable alternatives which are better value but folk wont look twice unless it has a piece of fruit on it!? get a grip!

Why is this expired, it isn't out of stock???

back to stock!

Yes, back in stock this morning. Just ordered an 80gb classic

@finlay66 & spanielgita

Thanks for the advice but looing at reviews of sound quality (which matters more to me than looks, size, battery life etc) i looks like a Sansa Clip or Cowon iAudio 7 seems to be the best option.

I wish there was somewhere I could listen to the damn things. Serious hi-fi don't seem to stock MP3 players (on the grounds that margins are too tight and they''re all unreliable) and the shops that do have them won't dem. Even Argos exclude MP3 players form their returns policy.

Anybody know a high street retailer that'll let me listen to their MP3 players?
