Refurbished Kindle back in stock- £79.99 @ Amazon

These seem to be in and out like a fiddlers elbow-
After the amazing deal the other day when they were £69.99, they are back in stock now at the 'standard' refurb price of £79.99.

I bought one and it looks like it is new. They come with a USB charger, but many micro USB chargers work, including Blackberry and I understand HTC phone chargers.

I have to say having bought a Kindle it is probably the best gadget I have ever had- absolutely brilliant like everyone who has one will tell you.

These offers must (?) dry up soon so don't miss out.

never wanted one, bought my wife a refurb a few weeks ago, had a play and decided i did want one after all ... just ordered, thanks
Good find - just debating buying my daughter one and this appeared - made my mind up for me
It is great price but better to hold a bit longer for a new one

new ones will be this price soon imho
does anyone know why amazon have so many refurbished models to flog? are they that rubbish that people are constantly sending them back?

Can't vote hot for an item that was £10 cheaper last week.

This is the best current deal for the product in question.
I got this in recent deal. Conceptually brilliant, esp for those that travel. Screen is nice and easy to read. But I'm getting really annoyed with the way it turns a page. The way the e ink refreshes is a bit like a flash and I'm not sure if I am going to be keeping it tbh.
Got my £68 refurb delivered yesterday from the offer last week and the unit was in perfect condition
When I got a refurb it came as registered to the US amazon store (amazon.com) and not the UK one so I'm wondering whether we're getting stock from the US? Or is that the default shipping config? Doesn't matter in the end, just flipped it to amazon.co.uk

Previous comments correct on refurb condition - it's mint!

Not in the least - 'refurbs' from big manufacturers/resellers are usually actually no such thing. They're simply ways of selling the same item at two different price levels to increase overall sales or ways of shifting excess stock when a new model is due.

These will be factory fresh, possibly reboxed but probably not. Humax Direct do the same thing.

If you're very unlucky you might actually get a shop return, but it's not cost effective most of the time to employ specialist staff to actually spend time refurbishing electrical items.

So these are just a brilliant bargain IMO.

If the price was back at £67.99 I'd buy 2 more for gifts!!

£79.99 is not a 'hot' deal IMO
"the best gadget I ever had"

Can't be, you need a HP Touchpad @ £89. LOL.
As lenny6582, my £68 refurb was delivered yesterday in perfect condition. I also got a real leather sleeve to put it in from a popular auction site for £2.99 which fits like a glove.

I would advise anyone tempted by the Kindle to buy one, I'm very impressed. If only they had some kind of light for reading in bed without disturbing the Missus.

Didnt know kindle didnt have a backlight...thats a shame because reading in bed without disturbing the missus was one of my main reasons.of purchase. Considering this is the third iteration of kindle, its baffling why they havent added such an obvious function.

So why was this £68 a week ago and now £80?
Amazon do a free Kindle prog so you can D/L books to your pc/lappy/netbook and read them from there.
Any news on the 3G version?
Now it is back in stock it might go down again....I hope.

This is technically hot because it is the cheapest currently available but it kinda sticks in the craw to buy it after it was £67 the other week and £90 new from Tesco the other week too.
Still a good price for a brilliant product.

Consider this a feature, as your eyes don't get tired of prolonged exposure to the light, and trust me, the screen really feels good to read with no light.
If you really need backlight, you should consider a tablet, or you can use a cover with a small light in the top.

Same here, but neither is it cold, so abstaining.
I'm still not clear on the guarantee. Is it 12 months or 3 months?

I wonder if they are clearing stocks before the launch of the new model with touchscreen? and their tablet.
Got my refurbished one yesterday its like new!! The charger fits into the plug socket that I use to charge my iphone and my HTC Wildfire charger fits it as well - very pleased with this.
Great Deal - I've had one since Christmas and have read with it constantly - think I', going to get one for my sister at this price!

Linky to the sleeve?

It be a feature if there was an option to turn backlight on and off.
And yes i have got the Hp Touchpad coming from usa, so i am aware of using tablet for reading the books.
My point was basically i wasnt aware kindle 3 didnt have a backlight and seems stupid to take out that "feature".

Because they want to make more money and thats why this isn't a hot deal. … Because they want to make more money and thats why this isn't a hot deal. The fact it's no longer available (at this moment in time at the cheaper price) is irrelevant.

If you want one NOW, surely this is a hotdeal ? I think the fact it WAS cheaper last week is irrelevant. That deal is gone and this is the best available at present.
I know that people will say "well why buy anything as everything gets upgraded at some point" BUT this was £68 last week and in the next 4 weeks an upgrade is being unveiled it's not really a hot deal unless you absoloutely MUST have one NOW.

Not voting either way.
Any Micro USB cable should work, 'U' in USB stands for 'Universal' which is why it was designed like that. It's a big con when they say it's for x or x.
First post 8)..... had £20 in vouchers from the recent Lovefilm promo, so £60 to me is a no brainer, even if I missed last week's offer. £80 for an as-new Kindle is still a bargain though, so HOT.

its 12 months for the kindle including refurbs
Missed out on the last lot, for an extra tenner this is still a good deal.
