Back in stock.
Wifi only - £79.99
Wifi + 3G - £115.99 ( link bottom of page 5)

As reported by many, these are basically brand new. Represents a saving of 28% compared to purchasing the brand new Wi-fi only kindle from Amazon.co.uk and other retailers selling at £111.00

There is no mention of refurbished on the packaging - it is all immaculate. Amazon have done a brilliant job.

Also, there is a confirmed 12 month warranty on the refurbished kindles. Also eligible for the 30 day return policy

These refurbished kindles are not eligible for the extended Squaretrade warranty.

Included is the kindle itself and a USB charging/sync cable. However, the USB connection that the kindle uses is used by most mobile phones today so shouldn't be too much of a problem. You can also plug the cable into an apple iPod/iPhone/iPad charger and charge from there or even from your computer.

These tend to be dispatched very quickly!

Bought one myself, had it for a week and couldn't be happier!!

For those of you kindle newbies, there are two official types of Amazon covers available: the standard one and the lighted one. They both have a unique clip system which allows the kindle to clip into the "inside spine" of the cover. These clips are metal, this allows the light in the lighted cover to draw its power directly from the kindle via these two clips meaning batteries are not required.

I'd also like to state that I am not an avid reader, I read maybe 2-4 books per year, but I have almost finished a full book in my first week. The fact that you can sample books and download free books means that you have a virtually unlimited supply of books which you can read within minutes! Plus it is so portable

I was also surprised. I only ordered the wifi one. I only liked the 3G one for its browser functionality but typing on the kindle is a bit of a pain so I would have found typing in the browser and navigating a real pain.

But if you really need to download books on the go or have no wi-fi connection, I suppose the wifi +3G would suit your needs better.

A new kindle release is inevitable, but they have to do something with the returned/faulty kindles, so why not make them brand new again and sell them at a discounted price.

I think I would quite like a colour e-ink Kindle, but for now, I am perfectly content with the b&w kindle. Perhaps the refresh rate could be quicker but once you become engrossed in the nbook, you don't even notice it.

I wonder how many people buy ebooks mostly to pirate ebooks?

Purchased a full price 3g one three weeks ago, love it and spend ages on it.

May well end up buying one of these for the daughter

I ordered one and it looked like new - no problems

The 3G + Wi-fi refurbished kindle is no longer available. It may come back in stock at some point, well it probably will when Amazon have enough. At the moment, it is just the wi-fi ones

Ordered one a couple of weeks back and again looks brand new, only missing the USB power adaptor.

Great price! I got hubby one on the Tesco deal but this is a cracking deal.

I like the white Kindle....i might get one in the US next month..

Will be getting one when they get rid of the pointless keyboard. Like the Nook Touch which is basically a clone of the Kindle without keyboard.

Hmm I am seriously tempted here.

Not had this ghosting issue since, and as i last said, it was so feint so as to be hardly noticeable anyway.
I was very skeptical about these Ereaders in the past, but its one of the best gadgets i've ever bought. In the short time i've had it, i've already read one book and i'm halfway through another one. It is a joy to use and will revolutionise my book reading.

Kindles are for old people.

Got one for the Mrs' birthday - Thanks Op.

I missed out on this last time around, so finnally ordred one.

Heat added!

probably just jealous and can't read oO

If you get a refurb 3G kindle you might have to ring up to get the 3G activated - my OH despondently thought she'd have to get hers replaced but the guy on the phone just had to tick a box and off (on) she went!

Anyone looking for a cover I'd reccommend the official Amazon one. It may be pricey, but its the most minimalistic one you can get, and the only one that fits perfectly.

do you recommend the lighted or standard? I have the standard but have ordered the lighted as well. Wil which I like and return the other. Do you find urself using the light more than you did, those of you with lighted covers?

I highly recommend the little Sony. Only a 5" screen, but the same e-ink and has no stupid keyboard. The best thing about it is the touchscreen - swipe to turn pages and double tap for the OED definition of a word. I use mine daily.

or those who like to read.

Just so we can get an idea of how old you are, define what you consider to be old.

Bought one of the refurbs last time, can only echo other comments. Looks brand new, no problems. these are truly great. I am reading again after a long lay off and feel better for it.

I agree......
I gave one to my grandad, who then said to me that he didn't fight in WW2 to have the country overrun with these newfangled Ereaders..... he then started muttering on about poisonous monkeys.

DEFINITELY NOT FOR OLD PEOPLE

It's a statement of fact by someone who clearly has recently experienced the state of the education system in this country, until they create txt speak versions of the classics, I can't see how anyone below 16 could possibly be able to get any benefit from a kindle.

And to those saying its for old people, it certainly isn't. I am 17 and have just finished reading a book in a week. A new record for me! In case anyone wants to know, it was "The Second Ship" which is awesome

Yes, sadly it did go quite soon.

I'd imagine that there will be more refurbished kindles on the way but I guess Amazon have to get a certain quantity of refurbs before they put them online at the discounted price.

Last time these refurbs were available for several days. I suppose this time either more people grabbed the deal or there was more likely less stock in place, certainly not enough to meet the demand!
