Anyone bought from this seller and care to comment on the condition of the laptop received? I'm looking for a replacement ThinkPad and these have popped up on my radar, but as with all resellers it's a minefield to understand what sort of condition device you'll get...

As far as I know, yes. But budget for another £30+. Is it worth it at that point? Hard to say. Haswell is just about hanging in there but it is starting to look a bit pokey in 2020.

I bought Grade A laptop from this seller and the condition of the laptop was immaculate. Also the seller is very helpful in case you need any support from them. Also I guess, you can return the laptop within 1 month from your purchase.

Been looking for something for max £180..all the think pads have poor screens after looking out for some.
Thanks for the feedback-I've purchased. My last ThinkPad was a refurb from eBay and lasted about 5yrs (3rd gen i5 x230 model) so fingers crossed for this one too...
What spec you go for?
Is the charger a genuine lenovo or third party brick?
This seller will only give you 3 months warranty. newandusedlaptops4u offers 12 months warranty and the prices are similar.

This one comes with better specs:

I had a t440 at work and it was horrible. Very heavy and with a terrible trackpad.

No it isn't, they have written codes into the EDID for only certain monitors they will accept, I know this as I have a T450 and bought an IPS screen, the screen itself works great, but you lost brightness control! Which is very valuable.

I'd try and get one with one in already, as I've tried many things to get it working with brightness control (they also have stopped people editting the EDID to add in the new screen info etc).

I did see a video on YouTube today about someone who swapped it for a 1080p he had problems with windows and the brightness but worked fine on Linux..

There's so many thinkpads on eBay it's hard to pick the right one

Sorry I should have said on my original post, this is for Win10, yes on Linux people have said it works fine, so if you use Linux you should be good to go.

Look at the other threads for newandusedlaptops4u, the state of what they've sent some people is shocking. And this listing doesn't even have example photos, just stock ones.

I'd prefer stockmustgo any day.

T440 for £115 is ok for price. They're decent machines but the touchpad is pretty bad as others said and the basic HD displays are terrible and prone to pressure marks. They're not heavy though; slim and durable.
You can probably get better deals if you look around on eBay.

T440p is a decent model if you are interested in upgrading all the innards (eg CPU)

This guy on YouTube has some great videos on ThinkPads:

It will run photo editing software, but it won't run very fast and your photos won't look great on the low resolution screen. If you add some extra ram (20-50£) and swap the hard drive for an SSD (30-100 £) it will run a lot better. Nonetheless if you are serious about editing photos (big files, lots of layers, merging big panoramas, etc) I would look for something with more cores (at least 4), more ram (16gb for basic photo editing), a big SSD and a high resolution IPS screen (Full HD or better).

If you're going the refurbished Thinkpad route, I can see some T450 or T460 models with Full HD IPS screens for about 250-300£.

The great thing about these refurbished thinkpads is that they are great value for money and pretty tough.
eBay search for T440p, sorted by lowest price, buy it now, UK based:
ebay.co.uk/sch…c=1

some interesting "parts only" deals around at the moment - with a bit of tinkering could give you a decent cheap+powerful laptop (or you could end up with a large paperweight :))

Ok thanks for that. Can you send me a link of the better ones please? It's for my child who wants to do photography GCSE. I have no idea on laptops. I have a budget of £200-300.

This is bulky and heavy but well-built and the CPU is quad core, it will do the job you require. Needs an SSD fitting in it though.

ebay.co.uk/itm…gRa

Shop around as that's just a quick search I did. That CPU will beat anything up to and including 7th gen dual core CPUs.

Fishmaster's suggestion is very good value for money.

As it's for your child, I'm not sure if a teenager will want to be seen with these refurbished business laptops. They look rather old and boring. Amazon Warehouse is doing 20% off on some of their stuff this week. You might be able to find something a little hipper in there. For example:

Thanks for the advice

Then buy one of the Lenovo V330, 330s or HP 255 Ryzen 5 laptops if you want something new but high performance.

People are saying this is heavy? I thought it was okay as a heavy duty work pc. Had this for several years, it was great no problems. When new, the battery was incredible but obviously not anymore.
Got it replaced with a t460, the touch screen died after a few months! But was replaced quickly thanks to work warrantee.

Both were very good in the long run. The 460 is slowing down now too and about to be replaced.

I would buy this if it was for light to medium use, nothing heavy of course!
