I wish people would stop voting cold because they are on some anti apple crusade. Everyone should know (and i mean everyone) that whether you like apple or not 33% off their RRP is a good deal.

Thanks OP

I think its cos u can get the new model for £850 through HE.

What's HE? If that's true then all it takes is someone like your good self to provide a little info (thank you by the way) but the point generally still stands about deals on apple products.

Sorry - HE = Higher Education - for the record I don't think i can use the HE Thing!!

Well, this has a 10 hour battery life compared to 7 on the other. And their is barely a difference in performance.

That's just your opinion. IMO this doesn't offer good value for money and isn't a good deal. It's not even new!, it's a refurb.

It offers great value for money, although if you can get HE then that would be the way to go.

We have found the FE and none FE/HE prices seem to have equalised.
Just go into the regular Apple Education Store.

Crescent Purchasing Consortium may be the only cheaper way to get them.

Oh no, it's a Mac, I hate Macs, although I've never actually used one, therefore it must be a naff deal so I'll auto-vote cold based purely on the fact I can pick up a 3 year old no-name PC off eBay for £40 which is better value for money than this.

No It's not my opinion. Regardless of whether it's value for money in YOUR OPINION if its the cheapest it can be obtained for then it's a deal. someone correct me if I am wrong. Preferably not some Apple Hater if possible!

I think if these were buy one get one free they would still be voted cold, too many of the anti apple brigade out there oO

Yes it is just your opinion. And, It doesn't matter how cheap something is. If it doesn't offer good value for money then it's never going to be a hot deal. Quit preaching to people about what is and isn't a deal and how "everyone" should think like you!

And you're calling me an Apple hater why? oO Hmm.. What device am I using to write this message with?

Your an ass.

Clearly, if you don't use HE links, this is the best deal so why vote cold.

Maybe it's because they get fed up with people keep telling them not to vote how they wish, I believe that some will vote cold because you tell them not too!

Actually Apple has changed the way they measure battery life. As I understand it the battery life is the same, and there is a big improvement in performance, tho of course it depends on what you are doing.

The level of CPU performance has clearly risen compared to the 2010 MBP … The level of CPU performance has clearly risen compared to the 2010 MBP 13 with a Core 2 Duo processor. This fact is demonstrated by benchmarks we performed in Mac OS X as well as those in Windows 7. The SuperPi 32m computation only took 735 seconds compared to 1160 seconds with the older Core 2 Duo P8600 CPUs. wPrime 1024 runs at a faster 632s, compared to the old score of 1100s. The Cinebench R11.5 CPU score in Mac OS X jumped from 1.36 points to 2.59 points, and in Xbench 1.3 the CPU sub-score rose from 169 to 231 points. This translates to a leap in performance of 36% - 72% depending on the particular benchmark.

OK - Well for those people who would like this particular product please then tell me where i can get this product for cheaper?

P.s i wasn't calling anyone specifically an apple hater i was simply asking that an apple hater didn't answer my question!

I'm not trying to tell people how to vote i am asking people to vote constructively, i.e if they vote it cold please provide feedback as otherwise it appears that there is no valid reason for voting cold as no-one can provide evidence that the product or service can be found for cheaper anywhere else. p.s If people vote cold because they think i am telling them not too then that's their prerogative but it would make me wonder why they are involved in a deals site!!

As I said in the other thread, thanks apple for ruining a near perfect mobile laptop i.e. the loss of the discrete gpu option of the intel crap. Usually for graphic intensive applications, and I refer er to games e.g. L4D or COD4, the GPU is the bottleneck rather than CPU. Considering Apple aim such products at graphical-autocad-designing it would have been prudent to keep the discrete GPU option. Steve Jobs is going to hell for that. Arguable comparing this versus a Dell Vostro 13" purchased at a similar time, my MBP 13" is still in great working order.
