Is it because of the two kickstand positions. Possibly it's best feature!

I think you should point out that this is the one running Windows RT

Whats so good about the surface 2 compare to 1 and RT?

Couldnt be bothered to post specs, its £100 cheaper than anywhere else i could find so thought id help others out! Haha surface 2 better screen and battery and finally 2 kickstand positions!

Really wish I could stretch to one of these

As an owner of a Surface RT I would say this is a great deal. To me the Surface, even the RT versions are far far more powerful than any other tablets. The USB port alone with its ability to support the majority of printers, cameras and accessories and act as a charger for my phone is reason enough for me not to consider the competition now. I had an iPad but after getting the Surface RT gave it to my wife. The Surface running RT is capable of more than what most home users use a laptop for.

I used one of these the other day, well surface one, i was impressed at just how quick and fluid it was. With the keyboard it really did operate as a productivity device in the way ipad doesnt. The calendar app was pants though. I used my calendar on ipad for all my appointments.

Ive bought this, at that price it is hard to say no. Lets see how it does.

made me lol thank you sir

great spec and hardware. I would miss too many android apps but great for people who just want it for the basics.

Great to see some love for RT, it gets a lot of heat here for not being a proper OS. Much like IOS and Android. Great for email, web browsing and the odd app. i.e my mum..

Seems like a reasonable deal - I could be tempted by a Pro (2) one day, but not seen the right price point yet.

hot btw

is this the same as the one at John Lewis at £279 but new, with a free keyboard cover and 2 year warranty?

Girlfriend has the 64 gig version of this, she absolutely loves it, and gotta say I'm very impressed with it as well, with the type cover it's head and shoulders above any android tablet or the ipad productivity-wise. Good for games too, though not quite the selection of the others obviously. If I had the money I'd grab one of these for messing around with the fully featured browser in front of the TV and have a desktop for any major stuff or serious gaming. Great battery life, beautiful screen and really well constructed, USB port very handy. One thing I will say is the 32gig doesn't have much space after the OS has been installed, if you're planning to carry many videos/photos around you'll need an SD card. Absolute bargain for this price assuming the argos refurbs are in nice condition. Definite Heat.

Great price, so tempted with one of these, but oh well, have just spent out on a bunch of other stuff. Hopefully something will come up again in a couple of months or so, heat added

the free skype world is a bonus, as it is normally £10.49 per month, a bit limited as it is calls to landlines (some countries have mobile calls included... 6 i think)

seriously tempted, thinking of selling the ipad 2 and getting this with the proceeds hmmm time to debate with my self

Heat from me..

RT is version of Windows 8 designed to run on ARM architecture, you get Office 2013 Home and Student for free. The disadvantage is that you can't run the massive library of applications that work on Windows operating systems are they use X86 architecture.

You could also fairly successfully argue that this tablet form factor with this OS is better than other competing systems namely Android/IOS for Office productivity. However it's a lot weaker on apps but nowhere near as bad as Blackberry. The Windows store now has the main apps, although the Windows store is possibly the worst organised and worst laid out app store in the history of apps stores and the search facility is abysmal, with terrible search results and multiple 3rd party versions of what you're looking for. It is very very bad in that respect, I can't emphasise enough how poor the Windows store is. It needs a complete overhaul, what a mess.

I was an early adopter of the first surface RT and have never looked back since. Bundled with Microsoft office, it was the most comfortable and lightest laptop to carry to university to get my work done with no frills or decent selection of apps. Paying full price for it after coming down like the cartoon coyote wasn't too great. At this price I would whole heartedly recommend with the keyboard accessory!

I would say its hot cos its an argos garantee and surface 2.
But you cant beat a desktop.

Can you attached a USB hdd to these for extra storage?

gonna wait for <£200

took the leap and bought it.. now to advertise my ipad on ebay

thanks OP, £250 for the spec and 1 year guarantee is great. My ipad 2 is out of guarantee so that was part of my though process in buying this and selling the ipad 2 (which by the way has been and is still a fantastic piece of kit)

Depends on the drive. If it requires 2 USB ports to power it then no unless you use another power source for the 2nd USB port which I have done. If its a single USB socket then just plug in and away you go.

Ordered to replace Surface 1, thanks

just for the the fact that i will get another years piece of mind it's worth it. i love the ipad, it's so good for surfing the net, checking emails etc and also amazing battery life, even after 2+ years but time for a change.. can't wait to try the surface 2 out

Just don't drop it

just ordered to my wife's dismay..

Any software developers out there who can recommend this, particularly web developers?

I would be interested in coding in notepad then viewing html pages in the web browser.
Would this be straight forward?
Also, is there anything like filezilla to enable remote uploads??

mines asleep, most of my tech is bought at night... i'll justify it by saying that selling the ipad 2 will cover the brunt of the cost. Though tbh I don't really need to justify it as i do not really spend (waste) cash on anything else.

Assume you mean more powerful than any non Windows tablet, my Acer Aspire P3 (i5) will want a word otherwise...

I have been using the original surface for the last 2 months and really like, build quality is great, screen and battery life are good. I have no issue with RT it does what I need -yeah it would be nice to install other programs occasionally but that's the trade off of price in my mind against spending a lot more on the surface pro and getting worse battery life.

Thinking of changing to this though:)
