At the risk of being repetitive, they're literally £1.51 more delivered from CEX with their 2 year guarantee. Viewable in your local store before purchase to check condition (there seems to be a lot scattered around), or delivered.

Apologies for the comment negativity but I just feel it's a much better option.

Thanks to @IamMT
It's not going to be factory condition, they haven't made them for several years.

I got one second hand, the gameplay is amazing, the games cheap.

For £100 you could have the system and four games.

I agree with this. Not negative at all buzz especially since this device has a screen.
Homebrew on the Wii U runs really well.

Agreed - easy to hack and then hundreds of games readily available.
£78 will get you the same model from CEX, but you can inspect it first, and you get a standard 2 year warrenty with CEX....sorted.

Can get direct from MusicMagpie for £2 cheaper!
Saw one in cex yesterday, pretty good condition too. Was tempted. How well would a wiiU compete with a raspberry pie 3b, or the new one, for homebrew? And can you still use it as a wiiU once you've hacked it?

I take it the games on Homebrew aren't those on sale? Can you recommend a guide for homebrew and where is best to buy games? Thanks!

You stick homebrew on the console and then download games and store them in the SD card or external harddrive. You will need a split USB lead that is plugged into both usb ports to use an external drive.

I had about 30 full games in the end.

But the games on homebrew are not the games sold right? theyre additional games or have I misunderstood what homebrew is?

Wii U easily do better than a pi3 on hardware and games available to run on it.

PI4 would still struggle with Wii games. Should be sufficient for a decent N64 experience now though. HB just allows you to play ripped games - doesn't change the function of the console.

HB allows you to play legitimate games that are obtained via illegitimate means. I had all the Mario's and Zelda's, for example.

Ah that's good. I didn't think it would be a case of once it's hacked it no longer can be used as a standard wiiU, but you never know. Seriously thinking about one, as they're all backwards compatible with Wii anyway aren't they? I was just wondering how Saturn/playstation games would run on it

Yes, Runs Wii games fine. The game pad functions as a self contained Wii as it has the sensor bar built in

Can't speak for Saturn/PS games, sorry.

Thanks for the link! My final question is why do I need a split usb if using a external drive? And as I read the guide it makes no mention of a external hardrive. Do I have to use a SD card for the install? Thanks!

The Y cable you mention is to provide extra power. Not all portable usb drives get enough power from one USB port. If it is 3.5” with external power, you don’t need the y cable.

you need 16GB if you have a white and at least 64GB for black Wii u.. This is used to do a nand backup so you can restore your console if anything happens.

the SD card will live in the console to load Homebrew apps
This or a PSP Vita? Thanks

No such thing as a PSP Vita, but I assume you mean PS Vita

You can't really compare them as one is meant for portability and the other connects to your TV. It's like comparing a smart phone to a smart tv.

So much piracy on here! A grand don't come for free, pay your way. I have an external SSD for my Wii U with legitimate games from the store.

Sending an email to Nintendo to shop your a$$es

Lol, SSD on a WiiU. You do know it only outputs at USB2.0 speeds maximum?

Do you really think they're not aware of this.
Got one a few years ago. Barely played it. Don't think it's even set up anymore.

There's a way to use Xbox controllers isn't there ? Think I'd be tempted to play it more if I set that up. Spent more time hacking it than playing games!

It’s the best HD Wii (Mario Galaxy) HD GameCube and of course Wii U games you can get. I bought one Saturday for £50 for this reason. It’s cheaper for me to buy a Wii U than to buy the GameCube HD adapter
SOUTHWALES12/08/2019 10:12

Probably means it's had a rub with a microfiber cloth and the accessories wrapped with cable ties.

Highly doubt they'll do anything better than that.

I got a GC compatible Wii from FB marketplace for £10. Then a Wii2HD adapter for £3. I can now play legit GC games in near HD quality.
It's a fantastic bit of kit that allows you to play most of the Nintendo back library on one machine. The eShop games are pricey but there's probably only a few must haves, and the Wii U disc titles are cheap as chips nowadays.

Mine arrived in a brown box with everything wrapped in bubble wrap. All was fine and as a bonus when I went to purchase brain training it was already recognised on the wiiu as a purchased game making softmodding it free for me xD
