Some reviews from eBay:

If you can find this at a reasonable price ( not the £270 wanted by retail park seller) then this is worth considering for those smaller rooms. Pros:- Sound output is pretty good - I like the fact its 3.1 so vocal detail is not lost when viewing movies containing lots of peripheral sound, good boomy base (and its wireless so can be hidden) individual volume controls for sub and main speakers, and 5 sound modes. Cons The cutover for the sub appears to be too sharp - you occasionally get bleed through of low frequency content when not expecting it. Have to turn sub volume right down to reduce this effect. The system leds are located on top of the sound bar - makes it nigh on impossible to see what sound mode you are in unless you stand up. Overall a good buy.

Pros: - Big sound (if that's what you're after). - 3.1 is welcome - the centre channel does make a big difference. - Good options for Movie, News, Music etc. - Virtual Surround is room filling. - Nice build quality. - Fits well behind my Panasonic 4K 40" TV. Cons: - Generally too much bass even on lowest setting resulting in the "stuffed t-shirt" technique in the sub port (the only way to tame the bass). - Lip sync issue on all devices - Panasonic 4K Blu Ray, Human PVR, Sky Box and the TV itself - especially prevalent in Netflix streamed from all devices. HDMI ARC is worse than optical with the sound sync issue. No fix found for this after exhaustive tweaking (I've spent hours). Lip sync is perfect through the TV speakers. It is worth noting that various optical outputs to my old home cinema 5.1 receiver do not suffer from lip sync issues so I am 100% sure that the sound bar is at fault. - Sometimes the sound sync issue can "suddenly" become 500ms or more. No idea why. - When placing in front of the TV the sound bar is slightly too high resulting in the IR sensor being blocked. - No display on the front of the sound bar so you have to check on top to see which settings are selected. - Irritating small remote. - After turning off power saving mode the sound bar still turns itself off. This really irritates me when you hit pause on the Human PVR. Conclusion: Quality sound bars with a sub are generally expensive. This one was great value being a refurb but I know why it's a refurb (refer to cons above). My view; spend at least £200 on a refurb sound bar or £300+ new. Eventually I'll replace this setup with an Atoms but I doubt it will be from Panasonic.

Excellent price, but really bad reviews
This wasn't posted before it was the 49.99 one as I stumbled across this particular sound bar through that thread. I picked this unit up and I'm very impressed, ignore any negative reviews this sound bar is amazing got mine through 2 days ago it's all set up and sounds amazing. A steal at this price!!
Please mention refurbished in the title as it is misleading
I've edited the link to the panasonic outlet to the right one. Previous link was to Currys (I might have accidentally linked it I'm not sure). The £49.99 HTB498EBK is here:

ebay.co.uk/itm…998

But the HTB688EBK mentioned here has a centre speaker embedded & a more powerful subwoofer
Bought 1 of these before and had an issue where it would randomly turn itself off.
Read the manual and tried the method to turn the auto shut down off but still did the same thing.
Sound from voices not very good either (very low) no matter what setting you use.
Grabbed one recently and generally can't fault it for the money (£80).

If I had to nitpick then the crossover between the subwoofer and soundbar isn't particularly smooth/linear.
And the options (sound modes etc) aren't particularly great, would be nice to have an eq you could adjust.

Again, it's decent for the price, wouldn't pay the full price for it though as there's better soundbars for similar money (or a little bit more).

As for it being refurbished, mine looks like new and can't see any damage.
Had a similar one off here a year or so ago and it's brilliant for me and has transformed a Phillips TV. Bluetooth a bit erratic but could be due to Alexa!!
Would this soundbar work with a old LG TV from 2013? Only has HDMI and usb output.

Newbie question, don’t think my ancient finlux telly has hdmi arc. Could I plug both the telly and PS4 into this and have the sound come out of them without having to switch settings all the time? Never had an external sound system.
I bought one when I saw it mentioned on the £49.99 soundbar thread. Very pleased with it. the If anything it's a bit too loud lol, we have to keep turning it down to hear each other speak. The centre speaker definitely makes a difference.

Received today. Box battered (expected i suppose). Inside everything looks fine. However, left speaker on soundbar not working. Tiniest chip on subwoofer box. Remote has a few scratches. Seems they dont test and repair as thoroughly as they claim.

Not a happy bunny. Contacted seller, hope it gets sorted quick.
The refurbished ones are back on for £129. Are these worth the price?
Same here. Sound from the left speaker was distorted but right speaker was good. Very unfortunate but will have to return it.
