Hows this hot? this has been this price for years and my question is how do they come to have so many refurbed units, simple answer there rubbish and the biggest worry of all is this line "Added security with security fascia cover included" in other words its not a face off and has some crappy cover which wont fool any stereo thief and your window will get smashed and the stereo taken.

Cold Cold

Usually £99.99 isn't it?

... because it's usually £99.99. By the way, it's not a crappy product. I've had this stereo 3 years without any problems, love it ... and also without being stolen too!

if its so "crap" why would you worry about getting it stolen? No ones gonna steel a "crap" head unit are they?
Good find OP - a lot of stereo for the money.

Sure, it won't sound as good as an Alpine setup, but given it's around the same price as the RRP for an Alpine remote control unit it's not going to.

Does everyone buy the 'removeable fascia' type stereos nowadays then? I'm in the market for a stereo, not sure what to get? Would someone really smash my car window for a £60 JVC stereo?

Yes.
Its a great bit of kit. I paid £130, and had two great years before I sold it when I changed cars. Multi inputs and connections, plays mpeg / divx too.
Personally I'd say this one was better:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_788253_categoryId_165743_langId_-1?cm_sp=Intelligent_Offer-_-Product_Details_Zone_1-_-Blank&iozone=PDPz1#dtab

I know it hasn't got the big touchscreen, but how much use is that if you want to stay on the right side of the law?

The one in the deal lacks usb input and camera/video but that one above has both of these features.

Not much in it and both a bit cheapy looking but I'd go for DVD732B
'reconditioned' --- ah, seccond hand --- so not worth half of what they're asking.

Have you seen London?
For the price it's a bargin. If you have never been in to Halfords to race two flip up DVD players to see how fast the screen opens, frankly you're inhuman

Utterly useless fact for the thread though, thanks for posting it twice.

In answer to that question: leave £5 on your driver seat next time you park your car and see what happens...

>Implying they weren't stealing everything in sight.
wish i could get one for this price where the screen goes down rather than up for my lorry.
these are absolute rubbish, had a brand new one of these dvd/cd player stopped working after 4 mths, and they dont give you a new one for replacement, they send it off for repair a further 10 days without a head unit, spend the extra get a decent brand
Wasnt this posted yesterday as well? How many of these things do they have on refurb as this deal pops up every other month, don't think I would touch one noting that.
is it multi region or hackable?

This is pretty standard practice after 4 months of ownership with most brands. Most warranties are RTB (return to base), so I think a return and repair within 10 days is pretty good. At least they fixed it for you.

As opposed to 'mine was faulty, but they sent it off and had it back to me within 10 days, which was pretty good, and what any mainstream manufacturer would do'.

You're a 'glass is half empty' kind of guy, arent you???
Looks ok for the money, ideal for a motorhome or caravan.
I posted a similar deal for Halfords a few months ago after having placed an order myself. Halfords cancelled my order a few days later as they didn't actually have 'any in stock'. Good deal if it's real.
Love this site, but the number of deals that get cancelled by retailers (esp. Expansy) lately, really sucks.

As for this deal, just because a product isn't a "brand" name does not make it poor (have ample dealings with Apple regarding product faults), so we are hoping to get this.

Any video or picture guides to help with install (inc the handbreak/Earth hack) out there?
@pgilc1 your username should be pr##ck really ,no clearly you are a half glass empty , cause you deal with companys that do that, all the companys i deal with for top quality stuff in my flat gets replaced if goes wrong not repaired , so why don't you just shut the hell up unless you have something cival to say without insulting people. oh thats right you insult people online but would'nt do it to there face

oh and pioneer, optoma, paradigm, dali audio stuff has never broke on me , cause its built to last, yet crappy ripspeed stereo broke in 4 mths

back to the product (_;)

anyone got it yet?
I dont have this exact model but I have one very similar from Ripspeed. It generally works well, sound is good (better than the old cassette radio that comes with the old Corsas) and AVI/DVD functions are not to bad.

But the downside is the firmware, navigation is pretty poor and there are certain things that are really annoying. eg a mp3 cd you have to hit next to get to the song you want (not so bad if you have 30 MP3s, but imagine if you want song 500, you dont want to press next 499 times )

The firmware is also pretty ugly and very very basic (at times it reminds me of a Commodore 64! with blue background and blocky white text)

Overall it does everything it says it will, but lacks on the usability side.

But as this has a touch screen, surely you can just touch the track you want to listen to?
I got mine yesterday, fitted it 'Just' in my Laguna Mk2 The radio flap on the laguna does hinder the flip out screen very slightly but your not suppose to be watching the screen anyway
Mine was not touch screen so they may have made major improvements in the firmware, but I have a feeling its probably going to be its weak point in this product also. The MP3s was just one example, there are a hundred better ways to navigate but they chose the simplest to implement at the expense of usability.

This is a problem for mine, as things are not intuitive (depending on if you are in a DVD menu, or a settings menu or a music menu, the select button can either be pressing the volume button, play button or holding down the stop button for 2 secs) May not sound a big deal, and you do learn them in time, but when driving the last thing you want to be doing is thinking can I use the touch screen here, or do I need to use a physical button, and which one etc

We were considering getting one, also with a Laguna 2.Thanks for the info, may pass on this one now.

Can you post a pic or explain how to hot wire the player to bypass the handbreak requirement?

Saw this on one of the reviews, hope it helps.

P.S. Connect the parking wire to the ground wire and you won't need to pull the handbrake up in order for the screen to come on."
