Should post it as a deal, if it's not already been done, as Dell has pulled production on the Streak 7.

Thought that was for the Streak 5 model?

£100 are you haveing a laugh, long wait or never. ive just sold 2 new p1000's for 325 and and 355 without much effor. a new p1010 will go for £250 new, £200-220 refurb so this is a good deal

excluding the hp touchpad, for £170 name one tablet that comes close at this price

I have one of these but unfortunatly paid £300 several months ago, solid bit of kit though built to last hence the resale value on them. Recomend them just wish I had waited!

Haha Tesco had a clearout of the 3G version of these at the same time, I went for that but ended up leaving with a Dell Streak cause they had none left lol
Another +1 for this tab. I've got the P1000 and it's pretty much replaced my phone now as I always have my bag on me to carry it around.

The 170 PPI on it is shocking out of the box though, everything on the screen is way too big. Rooted it, installed a custom ROM (Currently BOCA) and upped the PPI to 220 and it's perfect. Although I do wish it was dual core
I actually agree with the "Dell Streak 7" argument
Although I own a Dell Streak 5. So I have lost all faith in Dell
Honestly this tablet is outdated, severely outdated. Imo to really enjoy a tablet (Lag free browsing, smoothly multitasking) you need at least 2 cores
And seeing how web browsing is probably the only thing you will be doing on a tablet, I'd avoid this one

Look at the resolution on the Dell Streak though! Plus it has 512mb less ram and the screen is nowhere near as good.

The Galaxy Tab screen rivals the iPad:

(Not surprising as Samsung also make the iPad screen)

I'll need to look into that as it's one of my main complaints about the Tab.

John

Sorry, I didn't mean it as in the Tab is still worth that - I meant it as in that was the price at launch because it was a premium tab then, whereas the Streak has an RRP of £299.99. Part of the reason the Galaxy Tab didn't do too good was because no fool would pay that amount for a 7" tablet when they could buy an iPad!

In terms of value the Dell has it, in terms of gaming the Dell is ahead … In terms of value the Dell has it, in terms of gaming the Dell is ahead too. Also that price you quoted from 2010 is madness given that it's a small iPad 1 in terms of hardware, Samsung were taking the **** out of the public :(Both are old hat now anyways.

If your tab is rooted then get Rom Toolbox from the market, click 'build.prop tweaks' and up the LCD Density to 220 which is around the sweet spot 170 ppi is a joke for people wanting to use widgets, etc.

Also I thought I'd add the P1010 has a considerably less powerful GPU Chipset than the P1000 (PowerVR SGX530 vs PowerVR SGX540), and a slightly worse CPU.

The dell has a horrible resolution, if you want to feel as though you are carying around an oversized phone go for it if want to feel as though you carrying an oversized phone.

Are you telling me that the software is not set to the hardware resolution? You guys keep mentioning gaming but have you tried the onlive app? Arkham city, lanoire all running fine on any tablet so long as you have descent internet connection.

Well a few reviews of the HTC Flayer comment about it's single core 1.5 GHz with a glossed over Gingerbread seem to state it's a fine performer but very overpriced on release.
Can a honeycomb rom run on this tablet?

no, the samsung tab p1000 was £799 and that was only end of last year, not this wifi one which i think went for £599, samsung also make 26% of the parts for the iphone 4s

utter rubbish - ive used both the Dell 7 and Samsung P1000 and whilst the dell is a nice device its not in the same league, it may have a faster processor but its screen and use were poor, the HTC Flyer was even worse (looked like a cheap toy from a no name brand in China)
Edited by: "royals" 10th Dec 2011
I can't believe how pricey the Flyer is... There's a Toshiba Thrive 7 coming out in the US&A soon, hopefully we get that here too!

Are you telling me that the software is not set to the hardware … Are you telling me that the software is not set to the hardware resolution?.

The software is set to the correct native resoluton but the problem is the interface hasn't been scaled to take advantage of the higher resolution, physically larger screen. This means UI elements like widgets and application icons take up much more space than they need to but generally applications work fine and do take advantage of the higher resolution screen. By comparison the Note's interface on its 1280x800 screen is scaled to the higher resolution so you have five icons across rather than just the four on the Tab. It's more of an annoyance than a serious problem as thankfully applications run properly at the higher resolution.
