Good price for a decent 40" Smart TV with plenty of features. Refurbished but comes with a 12 month warranty.

Isn't the "F" a 2012 model? I think if you can wait, then better offers will come-up. I got the UE40H5500 Smart Samsung brand new with a 5 year warranty for £299 by getting John Lewis to price match just a few weeks back.

Can you tell me exactly how you managed that please? That is the model my Dad is going to buy but he's looking at paying £379 from JL or Richer Sounds. I'd really appreciate it

To be honest, it took a bit of watching to get that price......the £299 (no 5 year warranty) was posted here on HUKD from a less well regarded retailer/ecommerce seller who have a single showroon in London (it was either PRC Direct or TJ Hughes, can't remember). JL sometimes don't price match with these sort of companies, but they quite inconsistent (depending on which agent handles your request) and did on this occasion!

As I was trying to say in my first post, it does take a bit of vigilence but, for example, I also had price matches on a £380 LG Smart and a £370 Sony Smart all down to £300 when I decided to buy the Samsung after having spent a week or so deal-searching.

Thanks for that. At the moment quite a few places are doing the same TV for £345 but they're not offering the 5 year warranty. Would that make a difference?

No, the Warranty is not taken into account by JL when considering a Price Match Request........their only real stipulation is that the competitor must be a High Street seller, but if you hit lucky, they'll also price-match someone who might not even have one to buy on the High Street!!!

I notice the PRC Direct offer of £349 is Online Only at this second in time, but it's well worth a shot at getting them to price-match that even if you can't find another more conventional High Street seller! If they turn down a Price-Match request, you can always try again the next day and hope you get a less vigilent customer service rep

Great, thanks for the info. I've just checked on PriceSpy and it looks as if BHS, Debenhams & Tesco Direct have the TV for around the same price so let's see...

Co-op eBay have a UE40H5030 (I believe that's the right model number) for £249, though not a smart TV. Easily made into one via Chromecast for example, if you can't find a good deal on the other model?

Thanks for that. I think it'll be easier though for Dad to have a smart TV so he doesn't have to mess around with any more hardware!

Haha fair enough. I'm having a tough time figuring out what sort of TV to go for myself, been browsing the deals on here for days...
