This used to sell for £700 before the arc was released...

Is this really that good for this price with no Dolby Atmos or DTX? Looking to upgrade my old soundbar due to sound sync issues with a new virgin 360 box so not sure whether getting the older Sonos is worth it.

Guess it depends on your financial situation and how important Atmos is for you. Personally I think it still sounds amazing when paired with two old ones and a sub (maybe even sub mini depending on your room size)

The arc is available refurbs for 400 more though, but for that price you might be able to find it similarly priced new on something like a very credit deal or the ebay codes that keep popping up

Is this good? I read that there were a lot of play bars that had to be fixed due to buzzing

Mine buzzes occasionally and pops but it’s been good otherwise. What I would say is that the app is awful for pairing these up and switching from WIFI to Ethernet (or visa versa) can be a pain when the app won’t pick the bar up. Even worse when you have the Ones configured as a stereo pair. Had mine from new and it’s been such a good purchase otherwise.

Been wanting a Sonos sound bar to complement 2 Sonos one SL I have. I couldn't justify the expense of a beam or Arc so given this has a 100 day no questions ask return I have given it a try. So far I am extremely happy, very easy to set up and the sound quality is top notch. So for £249 this is an excellent choice. Highly recommended by me.

They've got you now! Won't be long till you're trying to sub for 100 days too! Glad you're enjoying it!

The Sonos app is one of the worst things I have ever used. Constantly fails to connect, updates every other week. It’s bad enough we have made the decision no more Sonos. They seem to be charging a premium for technology that has moved on

What could you buy for this price that's better? Id rather get this than the beam 1 or ray, possibly even the beam 2 as well

The App isn't great, but for £250 you won't find a better soundbar than this, Been using mine for 6 years now and still sounds excellent. Especially with a couple of One's as rears. (edited)

Yeah I have 1x play 1. So was thinking this and then a second hand play 1.

Must admit for what is now a very old product, 250 feels steep. Quality is top notch though

Still use mine everyday, much better than the beam 1 which goes for more refurbished. Depends how set you are on the new features of the beam 2 and arc for Dolby Atmos I guess

I grabbed one a while ago for when I get my office/garden office sorted. For this price you can’t go wrong really as long as TV has optical (nearly all). Grabbed an official wall mount off eBay too for cheap. I’m sure Atmos on the arc is great but I’ve got a Samsung Atmos setup and it’s decent for what I paid but I still prefer Sonos soundbars in 5.0 Dolby digital in some ways. (edited)

I got a beam 1 in the living room,.I always wanted to buy one of these and put the beam in the bedroom. I don't feel like the beam fills the room with sound . Yes it's getting old but the sound quality on these is great. many people won't be interested in Atmos and generally alot People don't use the app.. just setup and forget. (edited)

What can be added as “cheap rear speakers” and how? Does it need an amp to do so?

Something like this should work, or you could buy some Sonos ones from eBay maybe

No amp required it'll all work from your home wifi
