Believe me when i say, there is a very good reason these have been refurbished and that they are £56.99 !
They are useless. My mrs is on her 4th due to the first 3 having screen problems and Carphonewarehouse refusing to exchange for a different phone each time.
The 4th one shes on is still useless and does not inform her of whatsapp messages unless she opens the app and checks.
Full reset twice and many updates later still no good.
Lots of other issues but not gonna list em.
Please save your money and buy something else,

Yes. Stay away from Sony. My vibration stopped working last week since new software upgrade. Mine is not refurbished and that happened to my last phone as well. So no Sony for me.

Thats a WhatsApp thing mate, it needs to run in the background, it does it on my p20 Pro, only get notifications when I open the app. Check for background activation..

I am sure i have checked every setting mate thank you but I'm always open to suggestions.

I was really happy with my XA1 before getting my XZ1 Compact. No issues with Whatsapp notifications or the screen. My brother still uses his as his main phone without any issues that I'm aware of.

Great value phone, but then I do love my Sony phones.

Completely the opposite experience with Sony to the negative comments on here. I've had so many that are still going perfectly that I'm giving them to parents and in-laws as free smartphone upgrades. Can also buy these from Ali Express for just over £50.

Don't want to teach anyone how to suck eggs but try checking the actual WhatsApp app settings, make sure that notifications are enabled.

It's about battery settings, change from automatic to manual /keep run in background. Should work perfect after that Also turn app lock off

If you rely on satnav at all, do NOT get this phone. Its always way off for location and will have you taking all sorts of unnecessary turns. Also when fully updated it will no longer stay connected for bluetooth audio, which means no phone and no music in the car if you are set up that way.

I had this model for over a year as my daily driver, and those two issues were the main problem. The bluetooth I got around by downgrading to a previous software iteration. The satnav issues I never got around despite trying different things and reporting to Sony.
