same seller offers the self propelled version for £57.00 + £7.99 P&P

These appear to be store returns that are refurbished and subsequently brown boxed

This was expired a few minutes ago?!

That's it no more beers for me tonight!

Bought the self propelled one - thanks mikepj for pointing that out.

Just came along at the right time as ours had just given up the ghost. Brilliant, thanks and heat added.
Yeah, been looking at these all day wondering wether to go for it, having missed out on the home base ones last month.

Same, I should've bought one of the beefy ones...
ta to op :-)
ta me bought one for next year...
Bought one and had to return as it blew up on second use. Terrible quality including wafer thin plastic threads for the petrol and oil caps. I advise you to see one in the flesh. Buyer beware.
The description says they may have had limited use. Not such a good deal if so.

There's also a Qualcast from test seller, about the same price, but I don't think they are the quality brand that they once were.
Have spent years fighting with temperamental petrol lawn mowers.
Bought a Bosch Li-ion cordless a couple of years ago and never looked back.

 very expensive though.
I have one of these. Does the job well and so light it doesn't need to be self propelled. In fact, I prefer the push as you can push at your pace rather than the snails pace most self propelled ones go at. Bargain at this price.

Mine was a returned one too and the box was slightly battered. The engines need an hour to run in and operate smoothly and they are fine after that. The engine is unbranded and not as refined as Honda or Briggs but it's ok. I think people return them cause they think they are faulty engines, just run it in a bit.

I got the Qualcast metal deck mower from these people for £65 + £7-99 carriage, like new Briggs and Stratton Motor, bullet proof.

From homebase the Qualcast mover comes with 2yr warranty , would these comes with any manufacturer warranty ?

Or its a bet that they might work well .

I agree.

I bought the cheapo one from B and Q recently, ran poorly with low power at first, but improved with use as the engine freed off.

one tip - replace the rubbish original spark plug with an ngk - engine will run much better and start better too.
thank you bought the qualcast self propelled. been looking for a little while.
Any feedback on this one and the qualcast? I've got mine being delivered tomorrow, just wanted to know how they run?

I bought the sovereign self propelled mower, delivered quickly but difficult to start, misfires and cuts out. Seller ignoring my requests for a return so far. May just be a one off faulty item I don't know, but make certain you check and run your mower thoroughly,

I bought exactly the same - Qualcast 41cm cut with Briggs and Stratton 450E power, when I opened the box I was quite shocked, this machine looked like new and even underneath there are no signs of use and grass cutting.

After filling with Oil and fuel I ran it for 30 minutes and the motor runs smoothly and cuts very well.
As mentioned earlier change the spark plug to NGK and use decent oil, I'm using fully synthetic Quantum Long Life 3 (VW Diesel Gate 504 00 507 00) available on the 'bay for about £25 shipped and enough for 10 oil changes.

I ordered the Qualcast 51cm lawnmower over 2 wks ago. Supposed to have been delivered over 1 wk ago, Nothing has arrived and no response from seller to various emails I have sent. Mobile telephone number on ebay is not answered. I suspect that this seller has stopped trading and orders not delivered already will not be honoured. About to raise claim through ebay resolution centre to get my payment back - hopefully no problems with this !!

Very similar experience for me. It starts ok, but the engine surges and won't hold steady revs, and is misfiring every 5 seconds or so. Will see if it just needs running in, but not impressed at all so far.

I had to raise a PayPal claim before they would do anything, prior to that they totally ignored all correspondence. Now they have uplifted my faulty machine, and the promised a full refund when they receive it back from the courier . Left my PayPal case open at the moment just in case there is any problem with them actually refunding.

Update; Item has now been returned, still no refund seller ignoring correspondence, PayPal claim escalated.
