I was looking for some good speakers for my ipod with a charger. Found this one in Tesco Risca for £20 reduced from £40. Went on the net in the shop and found this better deal. Ok it is "only" refurbished (but comes with a 12 month Tesco Outlet warranty), but for £12.50, you can not go wrong too much.

Full description :
2x 15W RMS output. Charges iPod/iPhone (4 not 5) when docked. Includes remote control. Mains powered. H20xW34xD20cm. iPod Not Included .

Not Bluetooth, Not USB, No batteries, No alarm or radio... But for the price, what do you expect ?

Reevo gives it 8.6/10
The review on the Tesco website are generally good (always the odd negative ones).

If you want it new, try your local Tesco, it was on sale in mine at £20 reduced from £40.

300 sold on ebay.. still more than 10 available.. (171 watchers apparently). Be quick !

Price £10 + £2.50 delivery (or £3.50 Royal Mail Tracking 24)

Likely to have 3.5mm and USB inputs, and it is 5 times the power of other units should be bassy good ! Another super hot cold item/

Says it has Aux in but no USB. Still a good 'power' buy.

Just what I need. Thanks. Cheap, loud and good sound quality active speaker.

OK, I just received it this morning (after ordering it yesterday and paying the £1 extra for next day delivery).
It is not that big, quite light ("only" 1.5kg), it has a handle craved at the back and the sound is powerful and good enough for me.. So my only regret is that there is no battery facilities as this would have been perfect to take around with you on the beach/pool/garden... Still, it will be perfect for my holidays ! For that price, it is a real bargain I think !

Has it built in AC power or a DC power adapter regisb ?

BTW I know it says main powered but sometimes even that is via DC adapter.

Sorry, I am not sure of the difference, it has a 12v plug exactly like a phone charger which you fit on the unit. Very light actually, not heavy all all

It means you could concoct a battery unit from 12 AA., but it seems strange that your 12v adapter is light ! 30 watts RMS maybe needs 35 or so watts.

12 V at 3A = 36 watts so if its a 12V 3A adapter then 15+15W RMS is about right.

12V 2500mA..
I just weight it and it is 180g.. Ok, may be a bit heavier than a simple phone charger (not a lot), but my previous charger for my old speakers was a heavy block between 2 wires (1 attached to the main plug, the other one to the speakers).. So I prefer this as you can imagine.

Sounds decent then. They used to be something like 60% efficient generating masses of heat but these days they can be 90% and thus cooler running.
