Yes you can upgrade to windows 10

lol. If you are talking about the screen resolution than its standard for a sub £300 machine. Look at the price before expecting specs.

Good news. Windows 7 and up can upgrade to 10

Upgrade free form 8 to 8.1 and then to 10.

You can put W10 on a USB so it will pretty much go on anything.

+1 for price, +1 for HDMI-out but minus several for AMD CPU.

Of course, but still, shame

So is this a good laptop or not?

where? it doesn't say so there...

Cheap and NASTY. Such a weak CPU, not much better than the old Atoms.

good enough for surfing the internet and watching flash streams etc, other half has had one for a year and holding up well to daily usage

Terrible, terrible slow processor. Keep that in mind if considering this product.
Fine for clerical / internet use. Probably will have trouble with much more than that.

bought it by PayPal in 116.99

How do you get the 10% off through PayPal?

Could be a nice cheap linux mint machine hmm.

In the context of price? Yes, I suppose so.

In the grand scheme of things? No. The E1-6010 is a pretty weak CPU. 98% of the other laptops out there have more grunt that this. But 98% of the laptops out there also cost more than this.

Yes it'll handle basic web browsing and such, but open more than a couple of tabs and I suspect it'll start to slow down. The CPU in this can't cope with having very much on it's plate.

It's in "cheapest of the cheap" territory, so you can't expect too much.

does this laptop have a cd drive

Wouldn't buy this in a million years. Mates and brother had one, hard drives broke within a few years so I took ownership and popped a new one in. Slow and extremely hot, even for this price hard to recommend there are way better laptops out there 2nd hand for similar prices

A few years??

Never buy Argos refurbs, they are not always what you expect.

Good price

but minus several for AMD CPU.

This range of AMD CPUs are are generally better than the equivalent Intel N28__ models even though their higher power CPUs fair badly.

It is a slow CPU and we'd all love it if this had a Celeron 3205U in it but they tend to start much closer to £200.

indeed it could be i.e. junk

Why?

indeed it could be i.e. junk

Why tho? I know the specs are low but should be a perfectly usable Linux machine especially being alittle less resource hungry.
Recommend another refurbished /warrantied laptop at this price?

It will run linux mint OK, the problem is: linux mint is intolerably awful

Don't use mint then, or change the shell? I've never been a fan of cinnamon.

how long do laptops last these days my last one was dead after 3 years - is this typical for a sub £250 laptop similar to this ?

Toshiba refurbed laptops are pretty good value. Picked up a P50T-A0EE laptop for just over A$700 last month.

Some of the ones closer to £250 should be better these days (especially business ones less affected by the MOAR SPECS! disease) but I'd certainly expect a three year lifespan to be pretty typical of the cheapest possible laptops.

Hi
has any got theirs yet ? How good is refurbished ? Plus how do you get 10% off
Thanks guys

You could get a decent SSD and replace the hard drive, be happy

Yeh but would an SSD improve the CPU? I have just reinstalled WIN7 on a Toshiba laptop to improve performance but the CPU use is showing 100 per cent when trying to install updates.

Wouldn't bother with Windows 10 on a C50 CPU. I have a C50 tablet (with SSD) which ran Windows 8.1 OK but is toiling with Windows 10. It only has 2GB RAM right enough but I'll probably be rolling it back. This has 4GB so will be a little better but performance will be just about adequate at best. It is OK for the money but you'll get what you pay for.
