I don't think George was very happy judging by his review.

I need a new pair of boots. Are Regatta any good these days...?
A friend of ours has just bought these as his first walking boots. He’s impressed

These look fine for walking my old hound through the mud and S**t up the hills in wales, and at this price i'm fine with them not being top quality boots, ordered cheers .

Very well made and very comfortable. Size is accurate. I've broken them in round the house and find them just a little clumpy and stiff still. Maybe not ...

Not sure if the 10% discount still works, DECCL10. bought a new pair of boots on Friday with that code
Extra 15% off with JINGLE15 tested and working! £4.50 off which covers £3.95 postage
How accurate are the sizes? I'm a 11 and previously bought a pair of Berghaus that I had return for a 12
Just been on to live chat and they said if you ask for the item to be collected at a regatta store then it's free.. That's what I've done... Thanks OP.

Thanks
From looking around, the main criticism is that they're very slippery on wet surfaces. Also, they're not waterproof as advertised. Otherwise, they seem to be very comfortable and well made. Not tried them myself but price wise, this is a good deal compared with the prices elsewhere.
Ordered. Thanks OP!
Regatta have always seemed to keep their quality, despite I think going down in price quite a bit compared to Berghaus. Although I'm comparing from one of their outlets.

Mountain Warehouse on the other hand I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.
Nice find OP! TopCashback available as well for anyone interested.

Anyone else know how the sizing is?

Read up a few reviews on Amazon and some mention a narrower fit, so may be worth going up half a size
Am I going to get wet feet wearing these in the rain on the muddy canal walking the dog? Or will these be ok? My existing walking boots have just died.
Thanks .

4.4/5 on Amazon out of 93 reviews... And it doesn't look like that single review is even one of the product.

I managed to order a pair of these from Amazon around a year ago. They've never leaked, sole still decent. Only issue I had was one of the eyelets snapped. Seller sent me another pair free of charge, lucky me! Size wise, if you can go half a size up as toe area isn't as wide as it could be.

One cheeky way of doing it is ordering some cheap boots off Amazon and once they fall apart, just contact Amazon and they'll send you a new pair for free. You can legit keep doing this forever or until the product no longer exists on the site, at which point they'll give you a full refund.
For me the best budget boots are the Crane ones from Aldi. £19.99 + £2.95 postage but if you find something very cheap to take you over £20 you get free postage.

Had a pair last year and they had great grip for the winter pavements. Got another pair for this winter to start wearing shortly.

Didn't work for me with some hi-tec boots i bought from them. Had to contact hi-tec to get replacements. Penrith boots as i recall and they are total garbage. I got one months use out of them before i wore the sole out. Plus you can feel every bump in the ground the soles are so thin.

Have the old pair worn out within the year?

Yes, doesn't matter what ones i buy i wear them out quickly. 8 miles a day on pavements will wear any boots out quickly which is why i don't buy expensive ones.

Depends on intended use. Walking the dog or easy walks should be fine. Hiking in the mountains or other challenging terrain always buy the best you can afford.
Thanks - just ordered a pair for me and a pair for the wife

I bought some regatta shoes a few months ago, sizes 7 and 8.

I'm normally size 7 but they were tight.

The 8's gave me really bad blisters.

Returned and bought Berghaus instead, the difference is massive, so comfy.
Walking the dogs not a stroll up Everest sort of boot

I mean that's pretty relative to the shape of your foot imo, but I've never had their shoes.

Still think I'll take George's advice,he sounds like he knows what hes talking about.
zaheer200316/12/2019 21:19

are they comfy?

For £20 they are great. Probably not as comfy as £100 ones but i wear two pairs of socks anyway. For me the best thing about them is the way they handle icy conditions. Had a pair of hi-tecs forget which ones but i was like Bambi in them and they were so dangerous. That was after having a great pair of hi-tec banderas which have probably been my favourite boots over the years but are not made any more.
Price has gone up to £39.99
Mine arrived, good quality, a tad small for 9s but I think I can live with them.
