Did this with my XL and Pokemon last year when they were dishing out 3D Land. And obvs took advantage of the MK8 offer *cough* more than once *cough*. Nice little bonuses from Nintendo!

    Heat added.

Already got Monster Hunter and Zelda, which one do you guys recommend?

Edit: don't know anyone with a 3DS so party games are useless. I like Pokemon but I draw like an epileptic moose.

waiting for the new 3ds though it tempting to get an XL and the circle pad add on, as it could be a while before seeing more games that are designed for the twin sticks.

If you have set up a nintendo id on the system, unlink it before selling, … If you have set up a nintendo id on the system, unlink it before selling, then on your new 3ds sign in with your old ID and the purchase history list on eshop will show the games you have downloaded from the old console which can be downloaded to the new 3ds.

If you tried the bolded? If you did then you would know it doesn't work because you can't unlink before selling, only log out (via formatting the system, Nintendo call this unlinking for some stupid reason).

I think you have got it wrong, unless this is a new development that I do … I think you have got it wrong, unless this is a new development that I do not about with how downloaded games are now linked with the Nintendo ID and not the system itself.I believe downloaded eshop games are still linked with the system and even if you unlinked your Nintendo ID and linked it to a new system the games would not be transferred over with it but would stay on the old system. The only way to transfer the games over is by doing a full system transfer (ie have both in front of you).

Incorrect. If you have an NNID linked and format a system all games gone until you log back in. That to me says they are linked to the NNID, not the system.

However, the problem/mistake is formatting a system only logs out of the NNID. You can still only log into that system as there is no way to unlink an NNID (system transfer just moves the link)

But if system is stolen or sold you can get Nintendo to deactivate the NNID from the old system but they are really reluctant, rude and insist it is impossible until you bombard them with internet posts showing it is possible. Eventually there will be a webform to do this yourself, probably with the web based eshop (the url eshop.nintendo.net seems to do something...even if it just timeout for now...something like iwata.nintendo.net instantly gives error). On PSN you can use the webstore there to deactivate systems so it would make sense.

Log in to your Club Nintendo account and scroll though registered products and systems.

Alternatively try using the registration slip. If you get the survey you can cancel out (no real point as now is the promo has started). If you get told it is already registered than you (or somebody else) already registered it.

My impression was you had to go online with it to register and a firmware … My impression was you had to go online with it to register and a firmware update would be required, thus making gateway unusable?

You go online (on your PC/tablet) to "register" your Club Nintendo pins and to obtain your free eShop download code. You go online on your 3DS (eShop) to submit your free eShop download code.

In order to enter the eShop, your firmware on your 3DS needs to be updated to the latest version (ie later than 4.5). You have the option to create a virtual NAND (emuNAND) on your SD card and should be updating that instead of the physical NAND on your 3DS.

Do you know why this deal has been expired when Pokemon won't even been released for another 2 weeks?

Is there a way this deal can be "un-expired"?
(I'm hoping since you're a mod, you should have a much chance as anyone of knowing the answer thanks).

Some questions:Will your son want any of the free games "Monster Hunter, … Some questions:Will your son want any of the free games "Monster Hunter, Zelda ALBW, Yoshis Island, Kirby, Super Mario Golf, Mario Party Island Tour or Pokemon Art Academy."?Were you planning on using any of the free gift codes like getting a hylian shield backpack etc? If not, it might be cheaper to get them individually or through a different deal like this one: GAME dealAnother thing to consider is that the New 3DS will be releasing next year (upgraded, not fully new). But even if you don't want this, it should push the price of the current consoles down once announced. [This deal runs till 12/01/2015, so you do have a few days next year if you want to keep your options open and wait and see what is happening].Also, if it has any bearing, you won't be able to present him with a sealed box. The download code expires in March, so you will need to do the setting up, registration and downloading in advance.

Thanks very much for taking time to reply.

Nintendo are also releasing more 'special edition' versions presumably to try shifting existing inventory before the New 3DS/3DS XL arrives.

Want to upgrade your existing 3DS to the new one? Want to keep your existing downloaded games? You need both old and new 3DS infront of you to do it.

At least that's how it works at the moment.

ah man, I was tempted by the 3DS, then they went and announced the replacements so I thought I'd wait, now they go and do this, Zelda and SSB are two of the games I am tempted to get one for so to get one of them for free would be a great deal

Back in Nov/Dec 2012 they had another free game offer for the 3dsXL, and I had already registered my console a few months before.

I contacted Nintendo, and they (suprisingly) agreed that the offer would cover me and sent the free game code with no problems. Worth a try!

I haven't long had a 3ds xl either and registered after waiting a while for an offer. Oh well, I'm guessing plenty of the game download codes will be eBayed cheap and I'll likely trade and upgrade to the new one and there will no doubt be some sort of offer then.

    Damn.

No one ever sells the console Club Nintendo points on eBay so I could have some saved for promotions like this. Would love for a couple of 2DS codes to use with my (pending) ORAS codes and get myself Zelda and Kirby.

Heat anyway. Great for an extra bonus at christmas.

They did once - guess sellers realised that Nintendo runs promos like this at least a couple of times a year now and hang on to them for these times.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but in theory I could buy a points code on ebay, register that then register pokemon/smash and receive a download code?
  40. deleted932722's avatar
Well you have to register your 3ds and then a copy of one of the 3 games SSB, Pokemon to receive the free game..
