I know this is likely to go stone cold purely because it's got "iPhone 5" in the title, but it's not what you think!

When your iPhone 5 turns up on the 21st and you realise it was stupid to spend £500/£600/£700 on a phone: sell it to CEX for a profit... albeit a very small profit: it's still a chance to get your hard earned cash back.

They are offering:

16GB any network Grade A: £540 cash / £540 credit
32GB any network Grade A: £615 cash / £615 credit
64GB any network Grade A: £715 cash / £715 credit

Prices will last until about the 28th...

Chances a store has this much cash in the back are fairly slim, especially £700 for a 64GB, chances that they give it to you even if they do are even slimmer.

To avoid disappointment, sell online. This secures the price for 5 days from creating the order. Postage will cost a bit, but payment will go straight into your Bank Account/Paypal Account or be sent in the form of a Cheque.

heat for a great title

They only sell the 64GB ones on for £785 so to be fair this is crap for them, it's the pricing team being **** as usual, I worked there a while back and they did the same thing on PS VITAs and they were offering £180 credit £180 cash for a few weeks on them, we got loadssss of them in, didn't sell a single one, then dropped the selling price to £160 to shift them, they always do it at the release of a big thing, get flooded with them then make a loss on every one sold! Hey good for the customers though!

only a fool would send off a iphone 5 to CEX online, they are renowned for screwing you over

Lol the only iPhone 5 deal that's in positive territory .... The moto is if you can find a deal where you can sell an iPhone 5 then post it...it will get hot

Lol im pretty sure you will make a massive profit if you resell, not the pultry 10 quid cex offer,i wouldnt pay 600+ for a phone but thats how much they will be selling for on ebay

Very true, if these things sell out, and let's be fair, they definitely will, you'll be able to get around £650-750 for a 16GB online

They can't really do much if you send them a sealed iPhone 5?

I get what you mean though, the definition of a Grade A as I've been told by one employee depends on the area. As Solihull is a posh area, they expect Grade A's to be stupidly high quality, but over in Coventry where it's not so posh their standard is lower: only problem is stores then transfer their stock to each other so one store might be selling you an item as a Grade A when they would only grade it at a B themselves...

Quite a shoddy system to be fair.

My local shop never have any cash.

you need to go first thing to sell something like this for cash

and i mean 1st thing

makes you wonder what they will sell them for GIVING you this amount in cash for it

Read the small print and as said 'no cash' is the normal trick to say they just don't want to honour a deal.

By the looks of things they are only selling them for around £60 more than what they are paying, but as these are gonna be sold out everywhere people will be stupid enough to buy them so lot's of quick £60 profits aren't too bad I guess

Personally I think they did a fantastic job of 'completely redesigning' it and I can completely see how it took years and millions of $'s to do it. Really, it's groundbreaking......oO

no, someone isnt trying to sell you something...

iPhone 5 is a disappointment, still the best smartphone out there though in my opinion. Sticking with my 4 though, still can't see a reason to upgrade. 2 Years old now looks and works like new

We will see what the new HTC 1's are like next week

yay, I loved playing spot the difference when I was a kid, this one's kind of tricky though :L

poor return for a large investment, lol

Ordered 16GB and 32GB as I couldn't decide, I can just sell one to CEX now

Only problem, do they open it if its sealed? What happens if they don't have the cash? Go towards closing time or be one of the first ones there when CEX opens? (do they start with a set amount each day?)

Erm, if they honoured this, they would be selling each unit at a massive loss.

Everytime they sell something, it includes VAT. So if they sell it for £595, they need to give Customs & excise £99.17 pence - they get £495.83

They can't claim VAT back from you (as the general public aren't VAT registered) so if they are buying it off you for £540, they will lose over £45 on each transaction.....

Pretty sure that they will say that this is a mistake and not honour it.

errrr £2000 plus £8.75 p&p

LTE is nice, shame Orange don't allow you to tether currently and last I heard you had to jailbreak your iphone to do it anyway.

Held off on a new phone for a few months, there's no way on earth I would follow the sheep and get an iphone - the 5 is the first one I would have bought due to the screen improvement. Going with 3 the one plan so I can tether officially - paying a little more for the sgs3 than I could get it for but it means I can cancel my 3g modem contract with Orange.

i wonder what Sammy have in the wings for this? Note 2 should sell like hot cakes, a mid life refresh to the sgs3 is prob not on the cards (like the nfc on the sgs2).

Samsung already released their iphone killer, its called the s3. Much better phone and specs for less money.

More interest to me is if the HTC one x+ comes out soon as rumored with jelly bean installed then that will be something to look at.

The fact that the iPhone 5 is 4 x Faster than an iPhone 4 is a good reason for starters if you use your phone a lot with apps and online IMO.

Not a mistake: they offer prices like this on launch of new phones and used to do the same with new games, to get their stock levels up.

Very similar high prices on the 4s last year and the iPad 3 earlier this year.

LOLLLLLLLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ IPHONE 5

what a joke hahaha

Very expensive for a mid range phone.

voted cold, i don't hate iPhones

most likely to hear 'sorry we don't have enough cash in our tills, would you like instore credit instead?'

"A6 Processor - iPhone 5 x 4 Speed of iPhone 4"

In the presentation iPhones Apple banned any benchmarks as they did loading of apps.
It is called watering down the negatives.

CEX will prob lower the price as soon as its released next week?

So how much does each iPhone 5 cost Apple to make? Tech analysts say just £103
