oO REM were a great band before they became a 'stadium rock' band (although still some good stuff post 987) but their best stuff is pre 1987

This is a great album. Personally, I think R.E.M.'s first four albums are their best along with Green (which misses out on this CD as it came out in 1988), and some of the best songs from the first five albums are featured here. R.E.M. started to go commercial in 1987, and it is noticeable how much their songs change towards the end of the album.

Becoming commercial made them multi-millionaires, but unfortunately they also became boring in the process.
