Thanks for this. I'm looking to replace my existing (rubbish) one and was tempted by this. Anyone know of a good one?

I've been shaving my own head for ~12 years. I've had a few different clippers and I won't be buying Remington again, useless. Get Wahl instead.

Indeed, I decided against these and went for a 17.99 Wahl set instead. I'm glad I did, as it is a fantastic set, slightly larger than most clippers at this price range and cut through my thick hair like it wasn't there, no pulling, snagging or any other nasty business.

Hi can anyone recommend a good trimmer that trims close to the skin without the attachments?

Cheers.

Same here - I'm looking for hair clippers that can cut to less than 1mm (as close as possible really, without being a "shave"). I don't use any heads/combs on my clippers.

Do these fit the bill, or can anyone suggest any alternatives?

I only use Wahl for my boys

these seem great, ordered for my oh, the case they come in looks lush for £20 !

I believe that this item is a beard trimmer not hair clippers. i bought one a few years ago and i think it is brilliant. The widest attachment is only about an inch and a half wide so it isn't really suitable for trimming hair.

Personally I've never owned any rechargable clippers, but from the reviews I've read about various models they are best avoided. Rechargable facial shavers are fine but when it comes to hair clippers I would strongly recommend that you stick with mains supplied ones.

This is correct its not really meant for your head, Ive had mine a while and it does a very good job as a trimmer.

Agree totally, even the cheapest Wahl models are better than the more sophisticated Remington one I was bought as a present.
Most things go straight through my thinning strands, but when used for someone who has thick strong hair, only the Wahl battles through!

This product is also the same price on Amazon now and qualifies for free super saver delivery

Might be useful for those with NUS Extra cards.

Totally agree.. Ive had this set for about a year and is great for those lazy days when I cant be bothered to have a wet shave..

theses clippers aren't meant for head hair....its just for body hair i would assume

Look for a head whose blades are very close together or not so wide apart. They give the closest trim. I myself use a wahl one that im very impressed with.

is not the one you pointed out for shaving the head? This is a BEARD … is not the one you pointed out for shaving the head? This is a BEARD trimmeri have tried a remmington one in the past but it was a model meant for women which i found very good to use and cut what seem to be even shorter than any of the others (they all usually claim about 1mm short without the attachment) Problem was both sets never lasted more than 1 year as the blades went blunt.I really want the shortest trim ever without going for that 'rubbish' babyliss one (0.5 mm)So anyone know how this fares without the attachments? does it trim very short? or any alternatives?thanks

Mate why do you deem the babyliss itrim to be 'rubbish'? I was thnking of going for that. Most beard trimmer claim 3mm-15mm but itrim is among the only one that claims 0.5mm.

Thanks op  reserved mine!
This a beard trimmer not a hair cutter, so naturally it will struggle to cut hair as some members already mentioned. Some close up of the attachments:

Bought one of these today, for my beard and bits (:o) and think it's great! Had a few others over the years, this is the best by far.

Doubt it would do anything other than short head hair but don't think it's for that.

I use a Wahl mains one for my hair but this is so much more usable.

Well worth £13'ish

My hubby's got one of these. They're great!

One thing I don't get, people are slating cordless clippers because they don't hold their charge but.... you can just plug them in.
If you need to use them for an extended period leave them plugged in and then you can take them off the cord if you need to.

Some will work that way, some won't :-(
The Remington cordless ones I had would not work that way, one reason they ended up in the bin!
