You don't know how close i am to picking one of them up. TBH, don't care about parts as i'll prob give it a blast for about a week over the xmas period and forget about it. It's priced just right!

Take some heat.

ETA - Holy jet fuel batman, the scooby is at the same price now! More of a model for less
Edited by: "popolou" 2nd Nov 2011

Sooooooooo tempting I've wanted one of these for ages!!! Not sure if I can persuade the missus to get me one though...

If you're not concerned about parts availability or just want a shelf queen then I guess these are ok.

One thing I will say is BUY A FAILSAFE! These things go like stink and its not funny when your receiver batteries go flat and the thing goes open throttle oO

Also, in my experience, you'll break the pull start so get a spare if you can

Thanks OP, just ordered the .21 1/8th scale car. Even for the rolling chassis, this is an excellent price.

Muchos gracias!

I'll second that, broke both differentials when it stopped. Against a tree.

Anyone know how to clean out the engine on one of these after it's been sat around for a couple of years? The nitro's turned to jelly.......

Nice deal OP, these things are fun but really hard to use properly

Can anybody advise which one would be best to buy my hubby ..he used to be into these and commeted the other day he wouldnt mind getting back into them but I am clueless !! lol

Just had to buy the VH-MZT for my(self) sons birthday its not until March but what can you do. even sat on his desk it will look a work of art .

It depends on where specifically he intends to run them. Would it be on the road outside your house or in the local playing fields for example.....? The buggy can be considered an 'all-rounder' as it can be driven on both surfaces (tarmac and mud/grass);

ebuyer.com/265…-x5

But it chews up the tyres if mostly on the concrete/tarmac.

Not sure if something like WD40 would break that jelly down? I guess your biggest issue is going to be getting the jelly out of the carb needles

Don't worry fella, it was fun while it lasted....

Nice price find a good stockist for spares before buying unless you are never going to use them , it is definately worth paying more for a Hobby shop sold one IF spares are coming from China or the USA because overall the cost in postage will kill any pre buy saving you think you are making.

Gonna go for the buggy and tool kit.............I assume i need the tool kit?

what else is it you need to go with it?

A fail safe???

and the fuel???

the review on the buggy states you dont need the tool kit - have no idea what a fail safe is ... I have ordered the scoobie and the buggy for xmas pressents

i went for the tool kit as it has the glow started in it? which i think you DO need?

Come one some one please post what fuel is needed so i can order some so as soon as it arrived i can start bedding it in....

cheers

Or get a Roto start :-)
Looks crap tho. Mine cost £300 1/8th scale and goes 50mph. Agree tho if your not bothered about spares then go for it but when you crash it, you will bin it as you cant find spares..

you need to buy:

a car - this will be chassis and engine
electronics - remote, 2 x servos, receiver (might be included - 'Ready To Run' RTR means they come with electronics)
fuel
glow starter

a failsafe is optional, i just attached a spring to the throttle arm so if power is lost or linkage comes off, it shuts the carb.

i've got a 12 year old nitro RC car with pull start and from cold it starts first pull, never broken a pull start - just dont pull them too far!

Im quite temped too.
Ive done a bit of digging and the off-road one appears to shares its parts with the 'Speedy Tiger', which when you search for spares there is a lot listed.

Ok, lets just try and clarify some points here: -

Electronics - All the radio kit is included in the deal. This includes the transmitter/received and servo's.

Parts - "The car is 80% part compatibility & modification with other brands such as Traxxas, HPI"

if they are all 'ready to run' then yes, i wasnt sure if they all came 'ready to run'

How quick are these things?

50mph shouldnt be a problem for the ones with 2 speed box, single speed would be 30mph ish

you wont do those speeds, or want to for a prolonged amount of time, the engines dont like screaming all the time.
