Not really... I use one to turn my router on/off, as my pc is two floors away from the network gear, saves trolling up and down stairs... and of course, this wouldn't work with a WiFi socket.

I don't think I ever turn my router off. What are the benefits in that? (genuine question, not being sarcastic or anything)

Thanks OP. These are a boon to elderly relatives or anyone who cannot reach the sockets due to furniture in the way.

I reboot it fairly regularly, just don't really ever turn it off for more than a few seconds.

I am similar. The last time I turned it off at the wall was when doing a speedtest for my fibre following an upgrade. I followed the advice on the bt wholesale site and powered it off for a minute, then switched back on.The speedtest showed my speed had dropped by 2mb so have been a bit loathe to do it since!

Reserved when it was showing 2 in stock, got an email from the branch manager saying they won't be able to meet the reservation and I should check other branches.

Last few orders with homebase have been cancelled, usually via a phone call. I have a feeling the staff are keeping all the bargains for themselves or their stock system really is shockingly bad. Absolutely ridiculous.

Unfortunately it’s due to the stock take being done wrong & as a different company comes in to do these stock takes all we can do is adjust the stock amount when it arises.

Renegotiates speed with the head end so you can either get a faster speed or lower depending on when you reboot.
Middle of the day when no one is on then higher - evening lower.
Software reloads often fix things like memory leaks and hung processes within the OS itself especially Cisco routers!
That is one thing i learned when I became a CCNP and started working with big customers however its not a good idea to reboot a high end customers router as i found out only once.

Plus the routing tables build up in the router and DNS cache if it has one making it slow down as it processes more objects!
Also fixes wifi issues by scanning frequencies and selecting new channels!
A good reboot once a month does it the world of good!
I use these for christmas lights i have about 5 all programmed with the same remote, turn them all off in 1 go
These are pretty good. I bought some a coupled days ago. More money but added convenience Smart Plug WiFi Outlet TECKIN Mini Plug Works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT, Wireless Smart Socket Remote Control Timer Plug Switch, No Hub Required 2 Pack amazon.co.uk/dp/…63Y

I use these via an app, smart hub system (Domoticz) and 433 transmitter because it's cheaper and easier than having 1 app for every different branded smart home device.

£5 for 2 remote sockets I can control and set schedules for via an app without even touching the remote is a bargain 😏
