Remember when it is time to renew your photo card driving licence every 10 years you can get it done at most main post offices for £4.50 that includes your photo so in total including your licence it only costs £24.50 it is cheaper than posting it off.
They are able to do it if you change your address but not your name. So check yours now.

Think so, but they charge you every 10 years to update your photo, just another way of getting more money out of us really.

Should the title not say £24.50?

I'm confused. You still have to pay the same £20 charge, so isn't this just the Post Office charging you £4.50 for taking a photo?

Certainly looks that way, so no deal here for me

I did it online and they took the photo from my passport appliction, so I did not have to take any new photos or post anything off, hope this helps someone

Yes they charge you £4.50 but the alternative is buy your photos, buy a postal order if you don't have a cheque book, pay for posting it off, and hope it doesn't get lost or pay your £24.50 to them and it's done

They have done this for a while and while the extra charge us about the same as paying for passport photos they do make sure it meets the criteria for size ,background etc.

for passport type size photos just download an app for them to your phone,,theres loads available

This is the stupidest post I have read in a long time

"Yes they charge you £4.50 but the alternative is buy your photos"
take em yourself. print yourself or 50p at Asda

"buy a postal order if you don't have a cheque book"
.. or any kind of bank account which is pretty much nobody.

"pay for posting it off"
50p

"and hope it doesn't get lost"
now we're clutching at straws. Do you work for the Post Office by any chance LOL

Why is it so cold and why is it stupid I agree with Leonbrady you can do it on line but otherwise you can't beat this.

They use the photo you submitted for your passport if you tick the box.

Free.

I moved house in May and sent mine in to get adress changed and they sent me a refreshed one? Still got 9 years on it

I didn't pay anything ???

It's free if you change address or name, I didn't pay when I got married :-)

So, if you change your name or address they send you a new one valid for another 10yrs for free???

If you change your name or address it is free you just let them know they don't add on any extra years it finishes when it was due to finish. The above deal is when it is up for renewal after 10 years.

Oh bum, was thinking this was a way of not giving the scamming gets another £20

Hold on a minute, don't they send it off via Royal Mail Special Delivery? Which would normally cost £6.22 on it's own? So that would make this a pretty hot deal?

Yep....For us Plebs... the stress and strain of living or trying to live in Britain today will certainly age you....oO

Another way of ripping motorists off every 10 years by the time a 20 year old gets to 70 it will probably have cost them £300 at least with price rises.

Just take your photo yourself and print out at home.

There are free websites which crop the photos to the correct size.

You just can't help some people, most of you tight sods on here I am surprised you paid out the £20 to renew your licence in the first place........ Oh just a minute ?.......

There is not any obligation to change your paper licence to a photo D/L.

Or to have it with you when driving.

I did this and I had to sign on the machine.
hot for all your cold votes

Using passport photo is great, but if I remember correctly you have to have had it renewed less than 5years ago or something (best check paperwork), I lucked out by 6 months, will renew earlier next time...if the rules don't change again in a decade

My license 'expired' May 2011 and DVLA, Fuzz, insurance or anyone else has yet to mention it. Seeing this reminds me I best sor... na screw it.

If that's true? Any car insurance you buy will NOT be valid

Criminal offence.
Insurance invalid.
Mandatory ban.
Uninsurable in future.

You may think you are such a brilliant driver that you will never need to show it to the police.

Unfortunately, I am not a very good driver and when I hit you and you want to claim against me, you won't be able to. In fact, I will sue you because, without a driving licence you had no right to be there and I wouldn't have hit you.

Who's a clever boy....... ?
