Has it been confirmed if the DLC is on the disc or as a digital code yet?

does the DLC add much and is it worth paying the extra £10 or so for this version or should i just go for the standard version?

Don't know. The last 2 DLC's haven't even been released yet. No news is probably bad news?

Total guess - maybe the older stuff will be on the disc and the rest a code?

This or standard version?

Amazing game, probably the best resident evil game I've ever played. For me, on par with the original at least.

I liked it alot, RE4 and REmake are still the best for me and ill always have a special place in my heart for RE2 cant wait for the remake of that

only a deal of your a prime member otherwise rrp.

I asked amazon to price match last week but they refused. Spent my money on buying separate, disc and season pass, purely for selling disc later.
DLC is digital with one more to come next month.
For resale you’ll then have a Gold edition box and standard disc with no DLC to sell on.

For DLC I used the TCB £15 Game code, tracking at £15.75.
so total spend £15disc £9.25pass. With the disc to sell.

Amazon should just price match on enquiry when you can point them to Tesco or others selling cheaper.

But it is brilliant in VR! This and Robinson. The control method is so much better than the silly teleport business.

This is the one, this is the one I’ve been waiting for. Now just need a VR

There are 3 paid for DLC's. Only the first two have been released so far and have reviewed reasonably well. The third is due for release on the same day as the Gold Edition I think.

This will surely be codes, because otherwise Sony will force a new game / title ID and then you get a seperate set of trophies and previous gamesaves won't work

Is it a slow burner? I've only played for around 30 mins and was getting a bit bored.

Fallout 4 is the only GOTY edition I'm aware of that didn't have the dlc on the disc, and there was something of a 'backlash' towards Bethesda about that....I know that HZD complete edition will have the dlc on the disc as the devs have stated that...my guess is RE7 gold edition will be disc based dlc too.

Destiny? although maybe not actual GOTY.. but they didn't put expansions on disc

Point is, all the other GOTY versions that are on the disc have their own trophies and saves don't carry over. ie witcher

And even Skyrim, i can't use my saves on the VR version. doesn't even see them

Bathesda would have had to do the same, even just to patch the game to the latest version.. the discs would need to be remastered and Sony would have assiged a new title id...no one could have used their saves as i said above, then people would have moaned about that..

Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube has been the best so far.

Think a few people haven't got on with the whole first person view point. Outcast similar style. Try and force through the first 2 hours max and hopefully you will be hooked after that. Appreciate how it may be marmite for some.

I know what you mean. I couldn't get on with 5 & 6. I can still remember the first time playing Resi 1 and the dogs crashing through the windows to attack you. I think I was expecting action to come quicker. I plan to put some hours in this weekend.

Like many I'm really hoping all the content is on disc! Capcom have really delivered with their REmasters this gen, all which had extras on disc so I'm praying it is the same here - that and I sold my steelbook edition for this at a gamble! A good price to rival Base.com heat+

If its on disc, your saves will no longer work. Ok with that?

That is not exactly true. It has happened before with games like The Witcher 3 but more often than not, old save files do work and there is no reason why they shouldn't.

Yes there is a reason.

When discs are finalized to go to be pressed they are assigned a Product ID by Sony... for example... the Witcher 3 GOTY is CUSA 05571, but the original release is something like CUSA 01439.

Just like on the PS3 this Product id is also assiged to saved games and trophies, you can verify this yourself by putting a saved game on a USB stick. Stick it in a PC and you will see that this aforementioned product ID is the folder name your save is inside.

the PS4 won't even show you saves from other Product id's. and even if you renamed that folder on your USB, it still won't load.

Sony also won't allow a duplicate Product id either, this is the reason why old games with patches that have been out for years aren't applied to newly pressed discs for old games. Any change to the disc data means they would have to pay Sony to license the game as if it was new, and that also renders saves incompatible and you get a new trophy set. It's a shame it works this way, because it would be nice to buy an old PS4 game all patched up and ready to go.

When GOTY editions are released, they have to decide who they're going to upset the most, the ones who wanted the DLC content on the disc, and the ones who wanted to use their existing saved games. Sadly you can't have both.

Armed with this information we can work out if the DLC is on disc or not for Resident Evil Gold

gamefaqs.com/ps4…ata
gamefaqs.com/ps4…ata

As you can see here, the numbers for the Japan Releases of the orginal and gold are different IDs, therefore if thats accurate then the DLC will be on the disc.

Which also means your saves won't load.

Someone can verify that is indeed the case next week when the game comes out.

It's also why the Product ID for Destiny is the same for the original game, and the expansions like The Taken King, because they kept the same disc and gave you codes.

Same with Fallout 4

Nice explanation, also the games with DLC on disc normally means a new trophy set. Not always though, think I had some trophies left of Sniper Elite 3, I borrowed the complete edition of a friend and manages to finish just what I needed (all DLC trophies).

Yes you're right here.

What the developers did with this game was slighty different, and harder to explain.

The original sniper elite game was patched up to the ultimate edition version on PSN when the DLC was released (but obvs without the DLC)

They did something similar with Mortal Konbat X and XL

They don't tend to do that with GOTY editions though, perhaps Res Evil Gold will work like this, hadn't thought of that

Well yes, as i stated above..... it would be on the disc due to the Jap release being a different Product ID to the standard release.

There was no guesswork here, the facts were there to see on the links i posted.

The debate was whether the gamesaves will work, and (unless Sony have recently made it easier to use saves from other Product ID's) it will depend if the standard game receives an update to the 'Gold Edition'

Maybe someone can load up the old Resident Evil 7 and see if it updates to Gold.

(obvs the update of the standard to gold won't include the DLC)
