Got what I think is a good deal from orange retentions when renewing my contract.....

sold the phone for 330 so my phone contract is now <2£ a month for 2 years

not sure why but think a mod changed the price from 372 to 312 - had to pay 60£ for the phone itself!!! and also added an iphone pic

changed pic adn corrected prices

i said samsung galaxy s2 in the title and didn;t put that picture on

Good deal IMO. Although I wouldn't have a Samsung over my iPhone, can't complain at the deal. Not sure why this is getting cold votes (apart from the pic)

yeah i have an iphone 4 so just carrying on using that on a 2£ a month contract and sold samsung

my retention deal from three was a bit better, £11.50 a month, free galaxy s2 white, 600mins, unlimited texts, 1gb internet a month, and this was last september when the phone wasnt outdated by the new ones!!!
and 1gb is plenty, i only ever use max 300mb a month!

might be worth holding out for the Samsung galaxy s2 HD that 'may' be coming out next month.

Not really, it's a small upgrade meaning a full price contract instead of the much cheaper S2 deals.

There are 2 reasons this is going cold

- Galaxy S2. The fact that you mention the S2 in the title, then go on to slate it over a last generation iPhone means you are undermining your own deal.

- Retention deal (most important). This deal is for you, not available to the general public and only some current orange customers. These never go down well as the "product" doesn't really exist. I have got 5 blinding retention deals in the past couple of years, but I won't put them up as 99.9% of people on here won't be able to get them, and those who can will probably want a variation on it anyway.

Scorching! Well done! Knocks my S2/300m/Unlimited SMS/500MB streaming/Unlimited email+web retentions deal for £40+£20.42*24=£530.08 from T-Mobile into a cocked hat. You must have done something to make Orange love you, as anecdotally, they seem to be the stingiest on retentions deals.

jaybear,
how did you go about getting a retention deal? I am nearing the end of my contract [march] and have the deathly-slow pulse for my sins!

I am never entering into a contract again. they lied to me, yes 10.00 per month bla bla, then started charging me 18.00. stuck me in for 24 months, had to make so many complaint calls, eventually cancelled my direct debit, they then called me, and started listning to me, they listened to the sales calls and the sales guy did says 10.00 per month, so they gave me the difference back, so I didnt pay a bill for about 4 months, but I bought an xperia play for 150.00. and once my contract ends. I will be going to giff gaff or a 30 rolling contract. Been with orange for 10 year and this is the stress they gave me. took a month to sort out.

iv spoken to retentions and they dont seem to know anything about this....im a band 2 customer(aka been with them since hutchinson days!) and they couldnt get anywhere near this deal!,so cold im afraid op.

cold deal... t mobile offer me £25 month with 600mins , unlimited text and unlimited internet

Another sunlim COLD deal!!!!!!!!

I know I know...it's all Samsung parts. My mum has this phone and my dad the Galaxy Ace and although they're decent enough, I wouldn't swap an actual Samsung phone for my iphone.

You have to research as best you can, find other deals on other sites and have them all written down and ready to go (if you look at mobiles.co.uk etc, sometimes you can "forget" that it mentions an up front fee if it makes it sound better ). I find it also helps to have a non-standard reason why someone else is better, ie when I go to the republic of ireland is incredibly expensive (counts as european calls) but 3 will let those minutes come out my bundle. Usually, being nice and reasonable with the salesperson is best but I prefer to work that way anyway. And sometimes it depends on the person as to what you get, if the first person offers you something that you aren't happy with, tell them you need to think about it and call back a little later. Quite a few have asked for their PAC codes, been offered a deal, declined and ended the call, only to be called the next day and offered something even better. Personally, I'm terrified of this approach as I love my number and they might not call back Hopefully this helps! And bare in mind, the more you go over your contract (ie I hit £50-60 a month while on a £30 contract occassionally) the more you're worth to their commissions and the more they will do for you. Hope there's something in there of use!

(just for the sake of "look what I got", they knocked £5 a month and 6 months of my contract, skipped the £150 fee for the handset and give me free insurance and internet. So £18.50 a month off plus 6 months free and £150 fee waved)

Sorry to be the barer of bad news Marcus, Band 2 is actually how much you are worth to them. Band 1 is the lowest which is almost of no value to upgrade and grade 5 has them jumping through hoops for you. It's all down to how much you spend over your contract. Band 2 is pretty low and I'd consider looking into new customer deals unfortunately..... If you want to stay with Orange, you might be able to just take a new number? The deals on HUKD for 3rd party sites (buymobile etc) usually outstrip what the orange store/site has to offer btw.
