Wow, how did you manage to get that offer?, Best virgin could do for me recently was £35 a month for vivid 50 broadband and anytime calls, they wouldn't budge any lower, should have threatened to leave, but wasn't sure retention would call my bluff and call me back to offer me a better deal, ah well, maybe next year
Well done, excellent price! How have they apply it to your bill please? And how did you negotiate this? Cancel and await a callback, order with BT, or ...? This may help others in negotiations. Thanks

You have answered your own question - you have to cancel with Virgin and await a callback from their outbound team to access the better deals. Ordering elsewhere to transfer your number away can help even better deals.
... prepare yourself for the cold votes, “this is only available to you” comments ...

Personally it is helpful to know what Virgin can offer when they want to!
Guarantee it will be around £25 by april/may
They are fleecing me. Paying around 50 to 60 a month for basic crappy tv and standard broadband with fee calls after 6.
They are terrible to get a deal sorted with or even understand what the person on the other end of the line is going on about.

They have offered the exact same deal to me last Friday with TV, apparently you can get it without TV. 12 months at £19 per month. I did put in my disconnection and they called me up 8 days later with this offer. And the price is fixed for 12 months so won't go up.

And you cancel and get an even bigger discount.
In my experience retention’s don’t call you until you have cancelled and signed up for services elsewhere.

It seems that when they receive a request for your telephone number to ported they will then call you.

Couple of weeks ago I managed to negotiate a deal of:

350mb Vivid XXL Broadband
Full house TV with BT sport
New V6 Box
Talk weekends

All for £34 a month for 12 months on a we month contract

They watch how much data you use and only offer these to low usage customers. When I tried to bargain with them recently, they said they could not offer me better deal as I used lots of data . I eventually managed to get a better deal by leaving them and joining 2 weeks later as new customer .
They told me we use 150gb a month on average - didn`t say if it was high or low, but we got 100mb BB, Mix TV and landline with weekend calls for £25 a month. (actually £30 a month with a £60 credit for one year )

The player bundle. When the lady called from retention she asked why I was leaving and I told her that it was purely down to cost as I'm currently paying £15 for the player bundle but with 100 gb and its going up to £48 per month. She checked and came back with £19 per month.

I'm dreading calling up they know only virgin offers fiber in my area the rest is 1.5mbps through shite phone line.

Do Tb's of downloading a month with 2 xboxs ps4 tablet and 3 phones everything watched is streamed.

Did you rejoin with same name and address? Don't they require a minimum break before they'll give new customer deals?

Same with me. Its Virgin or 1 Mbs. Best I could manage was £36 pm on 200Mbs and weekend calls or £43 for 200Mbs and anytime calls to landlines and mobiles.

Same here, I don't have any ammo against Virgin as there are no better deals around, the best I can get is 8-15Mbps if I leave. All I managed to get from Virgin in October was £30/month for 100Mbps broadband and weekend calls...

That's my fear, you go through all that drama to get cheaper deal and then they increase it mid contract anyway

Even then there are no guarantees. I chatted to 3 people threatening to leave, actually booking the cancellation with the third. No retention call, just waved me goodbye. Best they could apparently do was £1 off the full rate a month...

I quoted other offers both they and competitors were offering and they just made excuses why they couldn't give them to me.

I think retentions deals are essentially pot luck based on who you get and how much Virgin need business at the time.

Just not true.
We have 38mbps on Vodafone on the old BT landline. When they said we would be without internet as nobody would be able to install before the cut - off date I could hear him realise teh "scare" tactics wouldn`t work
They wouldn't offer this to me
After how many days of putting your cancellation in do they tend to ring back?

I left it really late - contract ends next week!! Completely forgot. So unfortunately will have to pay the full rate as messed the 30 days notice.

How's Vodafone like? I was gonna get it , but when I cancelled virgin they eventually gave me 50mb broadband for same price as the Vodafone 38mb deal. Plus with Vodafone they want £60 for a new line , which makes it a little bit more than what virgin offered me over 18 months. So decided to stay

Virgin is 12 month contract, but discount is for 18 months . Pretty much an 18 month contract unless something cheaper is available within the next 12 months.

Vodafone`s been good for us. Steady speed and so far so good. We pay £25 for 18 months as they gave us a Sonos play one speaker which we wanted at the time. We were told that it COULD involve £60 installation but it was a replaced line less than a month before we took it out so told them not to bother turning up if they thought we would pay £60 - in the end it was a self install!

Ours is 12 month discount/12 month contract so will go back after 12 months and ask again next time.
Called to cancel. Offered 200mb and phone for 34.99. Apparently high usage of 185gb average hence why. Should I cancel or call their bluff?

It was the first thing they offered. They started at £26 for just 50mb broadband with £60 credit. As they offered other things I just keep saying "with the £60 credit"?

We actually put in to cancel it and gave 30 days notice. Retentions phoned two days later to seeif there was anything they could do

Oh that's cleared that one up then, thanks Sam, glad you got a good deal. I used about 100gb last month so probably not classes as a low user

Hi, yes I did think about doing that, didn't see that many great deals at the time from other providers. From What I've read in the past is that sometimes virgin retentions call you back and other times they don't.

Ah I see, that's good to hear as there has been bad reviews for Vodafone broadband. However I think people only really leave reviews if they're unhappy and the happy ones rarely leave a review. I was gonna leave virgin, but they rang me back and offered me 50mb broadband only , after all credits etc it works out at £21 a month and no messing around with install and fees elsewhere. Nowadays even standard broadband is at least £20 a month now , if one gets offered fibre around the £20 mark , my advice would be to take it .

To get the best deal, you must put in your 30 days notice and then let them call you back. However if you use a lot of data , that may go against you though

Maybe the closer you get to the cancellation date, they might try calling you again if you haven't accepted their initial offer.

In terms of usage, the woman who called me did say that my average monthly usage was 187gb which she considered somewhat high. However, I did point out that watching Netflix, Amazon Prime etc can easily take up large amount of that data, which she agreed.
I am entering week 4 after my cancellation and no deal agreed yet . Their early offer on Outbound callback was about £10 off (£50 for full house, 100mb, 1xV6, 1 Tivo). I have put in an order with BT two weeks ago and missed calls on the landline from their team (they called on my mobile up to the point of putting in the BT order!). I have contacted Retentions to ask them to ask Outbound to call, so still waiting. It shouldn’t have to be this stressful agreeing a deal each year - but then it is this or paying over the odds!

I would say that asking for a call back is a bit like playing poker with a mirror behind you......you are showing your hand so they won`t work hard on your behalf to keep you as a customer?

I thought twice about it too - but as they kept phoning my home number when I am at work, how else can you get through to them? Less than one week to go
I got retention deal includes weekend calls landline, TiVo box, vivid 100 fibre optic all for £20 a month. Any new customers want to join pm so u can get £50 off ur bill.
