Retention deal - with 3. £12 a month for unlimited calls, texts and 4gb data on 12 month contract @ Three

Had call today from three asking if they could make my contract cheaper … was pay £15 for 4gb data and unlimited text and calls. I travel quite a bit so the use the Feel at Home regularly which is great service.
They have offered to match my contract, but knock off £3 a month, but I am tied in now for 12 months. As I have no intention of moving from 3 (and will be buying new handset out right) think that this is a good deal for me and may be useful for others who call three and ask for the same deal?

Did you ring them first asking for cancellation/pac etc or they just rang you out of the blue?

I have the same but not in a 12 month contract, they put me on a rolling 1 month contract... Worth trying that.

I rang them to cancel my contract after 24 months of having my galaxy s4..

No, they just phone me out of the blue. I assume that they wanted to get me to upgrade to new handset but have an eye on a new phone but waiting for the new one to be released (dare not mention which brand as may affect people's votes).

was it hard to convince them to do this? I would prefer ability to cancel after a month … but given the benefits I have with Three I am not sure I will ever beat this deal and will be buying new handset out right rather than being tied into a very expensive 24 month deal

Tell them you no someone who has the following contract...

I rang them, to cancel as they wasn't offering the best galaxy s6 offers. Told them I was thinking about buying the phone outright and going on pay as you go. They looked into how many minutes, texts and internet I use. (I preferred unlimited internet as I was on the one plan before, but they wouldn't give me that for under £25) They mentioned that I have never used more than 4gb in a month and this is perfect for me. I can cap it also. I decided not to cap it, I have never been over my allowance yet, that's in 2 bill cycles so far. So I'm quite happy!

cool, thanks for advice

Fell like at home is useless in Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Just came back from 14 days holiday . I have tried to use three sim card for internet . Basic website took nearly 5 minutes to open. No way to use skype and other voip apps. I have tried to switch between networks : orange, movistar and yoigo . I could see 4g on the screen but connection so slow. I am sure spanisch networks give you access to the internet but setting up low speed limit for Three users. Wasn't happy at all.

Next time, if you know how, try forcing the connection to be 3g instead.

I left 3 last month after being with them for about 4years because the calls started to drop and the internet speeds started playing up and there was a charge on my bill for £4 a day from a third party company called PAYFORIT that I have never heard of, anyway I told 3 that I wanted to leave and could I have my PAC code because I had found a deal for unlimited mins, txt and data sim only with Talktalk has I am a Talktalk home broadband customer, well the 3 C.S guy told me that the Talktalk deal was not unlimited and that I would have to pay for landline and mobile calls = basically the guy from 3 lied to me which angered me and that made me leave 3 there and then I took my pac code and ported my number that very day.

Hope you mentioned on the call that he was lying and gave some feedback after on it

I bagged myself unlimited minutes, unlimited data, unlimited texts and 4gb tethering one month rolling - all for £17. The deal is usually for £30 or something.

thats amazing! would defo go for that, but wasn't offered it. Saying that I never go over my 4gb so if I did I suppose it would never cost me £5 as I'm capped.

Was there any discount on the rolling version?

I'm on this at £15 a month but rolling via retentions, but I'm not sure locking in for 12 months is worth a saving of £3.

What would a brand new customer expect, I am with GiffGaff right now but thinking of changing network. I will be bringing another 3 people with me if that help.
J

cheaper with TPO. 20 quids for unlimited texts, mins and 31gb 3g data. vroom vroom!

I have just done 15 nights in Gran Canaria, 3g signal on movistar. Couldn't really stream YouTube etc that well but other than that websites were all loading fine for me and my partner.

i was with 3 previously. the CS lied a lot on the phone and when i threatened to file a formal complaint, he just went 'go ahead. i did not lie'.

I didn't have any joy getting a retention deal with Three. They went through all the sim only offers that were available on their website but tried to sell it as a unique offer to me! I switched to EE but I find EE's coverage is variable. EE 4G is generally good, usually much faster than Three (in London) in my experience. However, 4G coverage is patchy and I often don't get data when on 3G. Three on the other hand was consistent, albeit it slower than EE.

This deal can be had for £10 / month. I have asked for a PAC code and the second day had a call and was offered this for £10/month.

HE LIKES APPLE, GET HIM CHAPS!

I'm well out of a 12 month SIM-only contract, currently paying £9.90 for 600 mins, unltd texts and 1 GB of data, I would love a deal like this! Do you think it's worth the call? I enquired about their "offers" a month or so after my contract was up, probably too soon I know, but the very helpful agent was completely scripted - didn't appear to want to do a thing for me other than offer what was already available for all...

They've never called me, probably not enough of a customer, but I think I might give them a shout tomorrow. Do I need to threaten to leave etc?

Ha, same. They did exactly the same to me actually! The agent was reeling off these 'deals' like I'd never heard anything like them before, all whilst I was looking at them in front of me on their site...

Paying the same but I've got unlimited Internet... but then I've been with them since they started out!

Will give them a ring 2mw

I was in Fuerteventura two weeks ago and done a speed test a few times and got about 10Mbps regularly.
I think they must only allocate a certain amount of bandwith to 3 so the more people logged onto the masts data the slower the connection.
TV streaming apps (Netflix , Filmon)totally refused to work and were blocked but I was able to tether to an Android tablet without any problems even though they say it was not allowed.
Viber , Watsapp and Skype worked perfectly.

I currently have 2 contracts with 3 . One is £9 pm for 500 mins 5000 text 2000 3 to 3 and unlimited data. The other one is almost same but is sim only and has 600 mins for £12pm. Also have a mobile broadband contract too. i was offered 1100 mins, 2000 3 to 3 5000 txt unlimited data and unlimited tethering for £18 pm. I took it but then later was told I hadn't passed the credit check. I was like WTH but I already have 3 contracts and I have a good credit rating. I've never missed a payment.he was like computer says no. I suspect it was maybe due to signing up to a couple credit cards recently. dissatisfied as I wanted to end the other contracts and just have this one alone

I got a contract mobile with virgin three months ago. I was amazed as I still have an Iva on my credit file. When I checked my file virgin never even ran the check which I find bizarre. Anyway I got my Samsung s6 unlimited this that and the other so I'm happy. I can only assume they didn't feel the need to run the check as I have had tv, landslide, n broadband with them for ten years and never missed a payment

£16.50 with virgin for unlt mins, texts and data all on a rolling contract.

Actually three and virgin rolling contract tariffs are pretty similar

I must be one their best sim only deal in uk. I'm on the one plan 2000 min unlimited texts and data at £10.50 per month rolling contract been with them just over 3 years now would never leave them at this price currently using about 16gb data a month because of my phone's Google maps I'm a taxi driver lol best sat Nav you can get

iam on one contract , why are they forcing you off?

I have been a loyal 3 customer for 4 years now, starting with the one plan 15pcm sim only rolling which was cancelled (offered at 21pcm). Two 24 mth handsets contracts

...... Later and I decide to obtain PAC codes to see what the deal is. No movement, I wanted 2 x sim only conversions and they would not budge on the price on the website. I think they're trying to reduce subscriber base, due to heavy tethering. I wasted nearly an hour talking to a rude, uneducated fool, just to get my PACs. Sad and glad to be on EE, soon to be the giant EE and BT conglomeration!
