2883951.jpgThis could get as cold as ice because it's not available to everyone, but before you send it shivering off to the Arctic Circle why not use it to try & haggle with VM?

After a year of 100 Meg broadband, phone & basic tv (I've got Sky so tv wasn't really required, but I used the Tivo in my spare bedroom) for £15.83 a month, I was trying to get Virgin to come up with another blinding deal but they wouldn't play ball, offering me the standard £44 a month. I started my 30 day notice period & agreed to join BT for £30ish (76 Meg & phone). Within 48 hours I got my call back from Virgin. I was told the very best they could offer was £31 a month (I tried for a round £30 but she said computer says no!) & when I said that wasn't good enough, they offered the 1st 2 months free. I went for that deal & was even happier when I saw the contract! I got my £30/m & the 2 free months are actually a credit for £88 - see pic. Oh, & the free V6 is arriving tomorrow

I got double broadband upgrade for FREE, apparently, from Virgin, 100mb to (you guessed it) 200mb, speed test tells me its gone down

Glad you got a decent retention deal. they didn't even call me when i gave my notice so i'm with sky now and its 10 times better. The Sky Q box makes the V6 look pathetic in looks and software build. Internet is 76mb and always stable, i'm actually finding it alot more reliable on distance and continuous speed over devices over the 100mb virgin i was on but it may be because from tech sites the sky q router is better than hub 3. who knows. Good deal though!

I have same problem
How long did it take to get your contract through after they called you?

I've agreed £31.25 over the phone for the same package as you but not yet had the contract? Been over a week now and online no mention of the new contract.

Cracking deal BTW!

I agree with you about how good Sky Q is, although our touch remote is lousy (I know there's a new voice version available). Our broadband connection with VM is great, but the wireless was pants until I shelled out on BT Whole Home. No issues at all now 😊
Virgin was too patchy for me since I moved house. Offered 100mb but never showed anything like it on the speed checker.
When my contract was up, they wanted more money for slower speeds so I jumped over to BT. So far, so good. I’m paying less per month for a more reliable service plus I get a £125 prepaid card and Quidco. 🏻

Im gonna do it today, tried online chat but its not available!!
Ill let you know what they say!!
I was offered this same package a few days ago for £36 (with no free months). Hoping to be able to get this too.

Well that was painless! Upgraded to Mix TV with BT Sport free for 6 months & still only £30! If you got the BT Sport for the full year, yours still trumps mine but I'm happy with that
I cancelled last summer. Got the call 2 days later. Basic tv package which suited us anyway. 200mb. Free we calls and line rental paid by vm. £23.50 per mth. And we have 2 tivo's. The lady I spoke did promise that the one would be swapped out for a v6. But that never materialised. I did complain but after so many calls I gave up. Next renewal ill be after same deal or I'm off...again!

Apparently you can ring up and they will swap to v6 for free now.

Apperently not! I rang earlier...

I tick all these boxes, yet just told I'm not entitled to a free upgrade! Once again duff information from Customer services or false advertising on the VM website. Be a different story if I was a stranger looking for a new contract.

'Already a customer?
You can get a free upgrade to our Virgin TV V6 box if…
You’re a Virgin TV customer
You also have Virgin Fibre with us
You don’t already have a Virgin TV V6 box'
Was told some garbage about not having one of the older boxes. And then it was because we didn't have a particular tv package. So They're lying on their website. I went on to tell them how slow and tempremental the TiVo boxes have become. So they then booked a technician to come tomorrow. Its all a bit of a farce.
I have the Mix tv as part of my bundle, is that the same as M ?

I have the Mix TV package and I'm eligible for it, what package do you have ?

This is from the VM website. So its irrelevant which tv package u have. Its just that the overseas call centre agents don't know what the VM website is preaching.

Had an engineer out today as I told the call centre that my TiVo was the slowest thing on the planet. He turned up asked me what was wrong with it. I told him its slow and crap. He didn't even look at it. He just unplugged it and installed a new v6 which he already had under his arm.

So after a bit of fuss I now have my free upgrade.
My contract is up. I just called them as suddenly realised (when I signed up for new free box) that my contract running out on 5th Feb which they never reminded me and price jumping up to £76/mth. So I managed to get them to:

Player TV
100MB
Weekend calls

for £36/month effectively (£40/moth and £50 cashback)

It's still pretty bad but as I only got one week to change to Openreach one and if I don't change now I will be on v high tariff for a month which will offset any potential savings from switching. Why can't these companies give us honest pricing instead of haggling every year.

What do people think?
What about the line rental do you go with pre paid year contract?

Get back in touch via the "thinking of leaving" option (I successfully renegotiated my retention "special" deal) & say something like:
"Someone I know has just been given this deal, but upgraded to Mix TV & they're only paying £30 with the 1st 2 months free. They even got BT Sport free for 6 months."
I don't know if offers & discounts are account specific but they definitely aren't dependent on previously monthly spend - I was paying £20 last year with a £50 bill credit! If it gets you anything extra great, if not & you aren't satisfied with the £40 deal, you have the cooling off period to find an alternative deal. Bear in mind that I did go as far as triggering my cancellation notice, so you could always tell them you're leaving if that's the best they can offer. It's worthwhile knowing what the opposition has available. I was leaving for BT Infinity 2 at £39.99 a month with £75 Topcashback + £150 BT Reward MasterCard, which works out at £28.05 a month over the 18 (they'll probably say you can't usually get cashback AND the BT reward, but it's on the TCB website, so you just say you can with this 1). Good luck!
Have been out of contract since August last year and have tried to get a better deal twice since as currently paying £45 for TV (M), 100MB broadband, and line rental with free weekend calls. Rang them today quoting the above deal and they have done 100MB, TV (M ), plus line rental (free calls weekend) plus 2 free months credited to my account for £28.45 a month. Plus also a V6 box which is arriving on Wednesday. Thanks - will do me nice for the next year. Just hope the contract comes through soon!

Wow so it really is with line rental included? I’ve just had a letter trying to get me to prepay a years line rental up front a few months before my contract is due to finish.
That's what they confirmed on the phone but I'll wait till I get my contract first
The retentions team aren't interested in matching this offer, or any offer. It seems hit an miss.
the retention team are awful and abusive, they tried to bully me into a deal that was more than im paying now... and that was with slower broadband and no sky movies...handed in the 30 days notiuce last friday, no cxall back so looking around..unfortunatly for me sky fibre not available in my street.... evrery other street but not mine , so my choice is limited..
If you go for a retention deal, does it commence straight away or after the initial 12 month contract period ends?

They did for me. I told them a friend got this deal - they made mine slightly cheaper also, well as above have just got my contract today:

V6 box
100MB Fibre
Player TV (M)
Telephone line rental , free weekend calls
Loyalty TV upgrade to more Tv - what ever that is

Plus 2 months free for just £28.45. Nice

You need to be out of your contract to get a retention deal

May not be so great but I got:

Broadband 50
Landline
Caller ID
Anytime calls

£28/ month but due to them starting the new contract now, I have some credit in my account from the previous contract discount. So it will work out around £26/month.

Not as good as my £25.25 per month for all the above and player TV which I was on before for my first Virgin Media contract. Not so bothered having the TV with them as I tend to watch Freeview channels..

I said I was going to get the Vodafone Broadband deal so they basically matched it.

Hopefully around December time there will be some good broadband deals from other providers. I'll either leave or stay if they can offer something good then.

Anything under £30 for all 3 is good in my opinion . If you want to leave in December you'll have to pay a cancellation as the above will have tied you into a 12 month contract
called vm back to try again , this time the deals have gone up....... from 51.50 pm to 56.... for full house, 100 bb, ew phone...my son in law had the same pack as me and joined the same time and got it for 50 pm in one call, been told that as i'm in an area where there's no sky fibre, the deals are poor as you one have 2 choices , slow copper bb or virgin, virgin have you by the short and curlies, no good deals
had to throw the towel in, as i need fast bb, so best i could do is.£50 credit , fh tv, 100mb bb , weekend phone calls. £55 pm.. hopefully i'll have better luck next year..
Pathetic rude virgin customer service trying out bullying tactics. Having contacted first they even forgot my monthly discount and started on about this is the best we have. Later having questioned earlier bills then added further discount still not as good as above.. right old doggy service... Unfortunately still cant get above deal asking £36 with bs chat about i saving on paying upfront on line rental.
