I know this is RRP but hear me out...

This model is now 'retired' (see comments below) and can't be bought from Lego directly, JL were the only other retailer selling it. These are currently selling on eBay for around £99 give/take £10.

To make the most of this, I:
  • Signed up for My John Lewis: johnlewis.com/our…wis and installed the (excellent) app. After my purchase it awarded me £5 off my next £50 spend as well as coffee and a cake!
  • I bought 2 x JL vouchers from Morrisons to get the points
  • Went through Quidco to get some coin things (no cashback)
  • Signed into my JL account before buying to get 'treats and rewards'

Mine will be getting built next Christmas when the decorations come out again.

Retired until next xmas only .
It's not retired. It was only released last year. Lego have simply stopped selling it online because Christmas is over. It will be back for next Christmas. This is typical for the Winter sets. The Toy shop has retired (again). Not sure about the Winter Train, but would be very surprised if that wasn't back for one more year too.

That said, if you want it this time of year at rrp, you won't get it anywhere else. If you aren't desperate, it was 30% off for a time at the Lego Shop during the sale and 15% off before last Christmas at John Lewis. If you are planning on keeping it for re-sale I'd hang on.

I have the train and the toy shop, they are really nice too. I was gutted when this was retired with none of the usual warning and saw the eBay prices...really pleased when I found this though.

Are you sure? It is now completely gone from the Lego site, unlike the winter train which is showing 'out of stock'.

I ask this because some of the other winter sets didn't make a come back for last Christmas. To be fair though, I've only got into the winter sets this year.

This is not a retired product, the poster here is wrong. It will be back …This is not a retired product, the poster here is wrong. It will be back for at least next Christmas and likely the one after as well. Of course it doesn’t appear on the lego website, who wants a Christmas set in February.

I said it is retired because before disappearing, Lego said it was 'retired'. Fair point about it being February...except Lego are still showing the other 'retired' and out of stock sets.

Thanks for the insight though, I'll remember this next time I'm about to make a panic Lego buy again. I don't suppose you know if the Ferrari will be coming back do you?

Normal run for Christmas sets is two Christmas outings so it will get a run Christmas 2018 as well but like everything Lego related nothing is ever set in stone,so anyone who really wants it buy now and avoid disappointment.

I see, thanks for explaining. I'm still learning the Lego way!

Is that lego ferrari f40 you after?
Heat for your methods in the description to get the best deal OP
I have all the Winter Village sets except the Village Market, don't know why I didn't buy it and am kicking myself now after seeing the prices on Ebay.

Hope Lego bring it back next Christmas then I can complete my sets
LEGO online had it half price last week, but you had to call them to order one. JL will probably reduce them instore soon anyway. You won't miss out as it'll be released again by October

Hi TabbyBoy, I noticed the train was half price but missed the station being reduced or even being available, how would I hear about offers like that in future? Thanks.

With one deal and several sarcastic comments posted in their five years of circulating on this site, you won't hear about any genuine offers from that user...

Neither of them were/are available at half price. There are a large number of sets showing as half price which have been sold out for weeks. The smaller Millennium Falcon is another. Most of them weren't even available at 30% off for more than a couple of days after the post Christmas sale started. They are still showing in the sale section so have been reduced to half price along with the few items that are actually available, but it doesn't mean anything and you haven't missed out. The Lego Shop has had quite a few issues with it's sale items and availability. This is just the latest one.
