3388660.jpgI've been eyeing up straps like these since I got rummaging around sites like WatchGecko - not that I'm suggesting they are like-for-like as I'd have to compare them - (when I was looking for a bracelet for my Seiko Alpinist). Seems to be well-reviewed and doesn't cost the earth.

Turns out I have this one Bookmarked already but I don't like recommending things on HUKD unless there's feedback closer to home (though Aliexpress' Reviews for this are very positive).

I can add more of the Aliexpress NATOs, Leathers and Bracelet link I have, if anyone wants me to go into list mode!

*A comment below mrwomble's does say they don't like the buckle (maybe that's where they've cheaped out), but I can't see many others on Ali Reviews mentioning this - see one on Page 5.

There are several reviews on AliExpress stating that the strap is of poor quality and has quickly fallen apart. One even shows that the strap is not made of leather (in the sense that one would expect), but rather a composition, more like a material equivalent of chipboard.

These appear to be yet another cheap copy of a decent product. There is a British company set up by a guy who is actually making these by hand, from actual leather (albeit more expensive). For anyone interested, the site address is below:

Edit: I’d actually linked the wrong site above. Whilst the above site offer hand made watch straps, the site I’d intended to link is the one below.

Well, I do my best to let the buyer decide with as much feedback and information as I can.
Wonder what animal these came from?

Thanks for posting this link, some great straps on there
Chinese sites have no problems with calling fake leather-effect plastic - leather. They don't have the trading standard laws we have in the UK.
So if you buy anything that they call leather - expect it to be plastic.
The direct translation of leather in Mandarin is plastic
Yes, there's a comment buried in amongst the many Aliexpress review pages suggesting that most things you buy from China described as leather are anything but. Oh well, I posted this at 2am

Edit: There's another comment on the WUS Aliexpress thread saying Hengrc Official Store (similar price point) are worth a look and the buckles are better quality.

Human - the Uyghur people in Xinjiang province.

Don't buy anything you know to have been made in China until basic human rights are allowed.

Not that I don't care about human rights but if you want all Aliexpress/Gearbest etc listings banned on here, you might have a challenge on your hands. This isn't really the right forum.

Apologies, it wasn’t my intention to come across discouraging in my comments. This may well be good value, based on the low price and a worthwhile risk, however my caution related to the consideration of fitting this strap to a valuable (sentimental or otherwise) watch on the assumption that it would provide the same strength as a good leather strap.

You’ll also need to boycott most of Amazon.
