The cheapest return flight in November was for £380 (with decent connections) with a Chines airline so for the extra £35 you get a direct flight. An airline with a good safety record and good reviews. My dates are-;

£400 isn't the going rate for a direct flight and the secret flying deal has expired.
The point I was making is that every week flights to E/SE Asia are coming up. I just looked on Skyscanner and returns in Nov are coming up £280 with China Eastern, £303 with Qatar... What you've posted isn't a deal, it's actually expensive. No other month this year is more than £340 return.
£400 for a direct flight is definitely not the going rate. A flight with a connection, yes.
£480 direct with BA
If £400 isn't a great price then maybe you can point us to a cheaper direct flight with a comparable airline? Personally wouldn't touch a Chinese airline with a very long barge pole, and am happy to pay a reasonable premium for a direct flight that is likely to be 4 - 6 hrs quicker in each direction.
Nobody is stating that a cheaper indirect flight is bad.The fact remains you cant find a cheaper direct flight.
4th
What if the flight with the connection left 4hrs before the direct? You're an amateur, probably used to flying Thomas Cook. You clearly don't know what you are talking about and probably wouldn't be capable of changing planes. That's what you're worried about
I'm not an amateur and this IS a hot deal. Show me a cheaper DIRECT flight LHR to BKK. The point is that some of us prefer or want to fly DIRECT as opposed to via stopovers. Qatar are a great airline but Doha is frankly, in my experience, a poor stopover. I've never been so bored. The duty free took all of 5 minutes to walk around and the food was worse than a dodgy backstreet knock off KFC...
Now have to make sure the wife doesn't book this....BTW she's Thai so that should go someway to show that I do know what I'm talking about...
Knew that's why I didn't get that job as a postman! Only got a B in Geography at A Level when they must have wanted a 2:1 or higher degree.
Taiwan is technically a ROC. One wouldn't call Cathay Pacific Chinese, would they?
Doha airport is the most boring place on earth, arrived there a few years back early in morning, connecting flight was late afternoon, nothing to do for hours, would pay any money not to go through that again
It depends on which context is intended. "Chinese" has different meaning, whether referring to ethnicity, culture, political or geographical context. All are ethnic Chinese, all are 华人, so in that context all are Chinese. But yes, Eva Air are Taiwanese.

I've flown with EVA before as well and it's so much better than some of the Chinese airlines. In fact, service was pretty good even compared to Etihad / Emirates.
The OP was referring that the next cheapest flight indirect was with Chinese airline not that Eva is Chinese.
Regarding the comments about flights at stupidly low prices, these are often mistakes and you will have noticed some of them you need to get your own flight to Milan - at peak holiday time, so connecting flights will be high.
For a direct flight this is cheap, but you can save over £50 by flying from a different airport and going in-direct. I personally fly indirect to Manila about 4 times a year and because i am flexible i can generally get a deal. The OP in a later post said he wanted flying times after a set time - when you have strict times and dates, you can rarely get the best deal.
I saved £300 by flying from BHX rather than MAN (based in York) - to get the best deal you just need to be flexible.
For a direct flight it's a good price if the flying times work for you, but you can get better prices by going indirectly and being flexible. By changing the starting date and end date by 1 day the price is £322 for indirect.
I was there in December and January and the airport is massive! Never got a lot of time to look about. I think Qatar offer city tours if you fly with them (and have the time) - but maybe that's business class?
Doha new airport is only 2yrs old

As what everyone has said... New airport in Doha now... things have changed..
Have the people?
I would love to see you get a direct flight for less . Also china southern have bad track record and delays all the time i would rather pay more than use them .
