I've got a couple of flights booked with Wizzair this summer, from Naples to Sofia, then on to Varna.

It may be worth noting in the description that this price is for a small piece of hand luggage, which is considerably smaller than what is acceptable as hand luggage normally (ie. Ryanair and Easyjet). Normal sized hand luggage is extra.

Is their hand luggage allowance smaller by weight or case size please?
Case size. It is 42 X 32 X 25 CM, which is more like the 'personal item' size on other airlines.

Worth remembering for anyone thinking of doing similar, that most Bulgarians would use coaches for that journey, so there are plenty of options from Sofia bus station (bus or taxi from airport) to Varna (can walk from bus station to centre with hand luggage, as it's a straight road).
Coach might be cheaper and possibly quicker depending on flight connections. Coaches run during the night as well, so sleeping on them is normal.

Correct. Ryanair is 55 x 40 x 20 cm plus plus 1 small bag up to 35 x 20 x 20 cms

Point taken. :-)

But I believe the majority comments following this path are also missing one VERY IMPORTANT path here too?.

And that is, your being allowed to FLY from this Country, to another person's Country, some x-hundred miles AWAY from you, for LESS than £5?!. :-)

Or, am I missing something also?, hehehe. ;-)

op could have just added this deal to the original one - this is just the same with a twist IMHO
We've missed you pal
Only bad thing is that Wizz and EasyJet use Terminal One at Sofia, which is the most horrid terminal I have ever been too. I'd prefer to pay a bit more and use Ryanair just to use T2. (hot deal still though)

T2 isn't much better atm TBH. - but at least getting through security is quicker

Have you been clothes shopping in Bulgaria ? It might be cheaper to buy here from Primark and leave them there beside a rubbish bin for local beggars to use or sell. I lived there for several years in both Sofia and Varna, and was shocked at first at how expensive clothes were compared to minimum wages over there.
Another point is that if you buy cheap clothes there, many people will realise, unless you want to go on holiday and buy secondhand clothes ?

It is not 'absolutely incorrect', and if your English was absolutely perfect you would realise you should have said my information was incomplete. It is POSSIBLE to take a bus or taxi, so my information is correct........ I taught English in Bulgaria so realise the grammar is very different and can be misleading when people use English but think in Bulgarian perhaps.
If I arrived with several suitcases then I would use a taxi as it's easier, but as I usually had hand luggage only, I enjoyed the bus journey especially after a longer absence, as it helped me familiarise myself with everyday life again, as well as passing by a flat where I used to live and had good friends.

Hi - yes perhaps after a few journeys the novelty wears off, but for us foreigners the first couple of trips can be interesting by road - I used to travel by night eventually as it was cooler and generally the volume was turned down on films so people could sleep.
Flight arrives early morning so no Metro or Bus available only Taxi. Taxis are notorious for ripping people off. 18-20 Lev to get into town so more than flight itself.Having been to Sofia , really not alot to see.

Yes, *you're missing that i wasn't making a point. I was answering a question re cabin baggage allowance. It really is an amazing price. It costs more than that to use the drop off point at the airport!
What about an accommodation for the 2 weeks please
don t use wizz air, they are the worst company to fly to. horrible experience
Wizzair? They're "better" than United.

Lmfao, it cost £4.20 for a "day-rider" bus ticket in Barnsley, yet a trip to Bulgaria is only a fiver, lol

A few of you wrote that you lived/stayed in Sofia, what's it like as a tourist spot please?

Is there anything to see or do, nice architecture to look at, etc??

How easy is it to get rooms over there, do plenty of people speak English or would I need to learn some basic Bulgarian?

I apologise if these seem like stupid / inane questions, but I'm wanting to expand my horizons, thanks

You better read some comments above you then asking so many questions no one is going to answer.

I read them all, which is why my questions are directed at the people that have actually stayed there, as opposed to a couple of random comments pal, therefore getting a clearer picture of the place

Ryanair way better than Wizz these days, Wizz can only take one tiny bag for free, Ryanair TWO bags
