I think this is an excellent price for a return flight to New York departing in August. Example date 27th August - 4th September. If you cannot see the discounted prices you will need to apply the code FRIENDS2019 in the campaign box at the bottom of the page on the low fare calendar page (shown in the image below). Hand luggage only.

Flown to NYC with Norwegian Air and can recommend them. Heat added

Hopefully not

Certainly the most exhilarating way to go I'd imagine.

That scene from Con Air and Steve Buscemi comes to mind. "He's got the whole world in his hands" 🎶

I'd like to think that'd be me in such a scenario.
Freaking people out just that little bit more in an already terrifying situation as my final parting act in this world

Flown with Norwegian, first time, got delayed outbound flight by 7 hours. We had a replacement plane and got free flight meals. Managed to get back the full compensation though so win win.... No delays on the way, no food either. Silver linings...
Hot!

As in, it’ll be roasting in August!
Shame about the useless airline they cancel so many flights due to aircraft issues, mine was cancelled so rebooking closer to the date cost a fortune
£233 per person selected dates in November
Will never forget Norwegian Air's in flight catering. The herring sńurgle-slõpp with reindeer's lurgy was unforgettable (once I'd had my stomach pumped and a year of psychotherapy).
just £200 a day for a hotel
Friend went for Easter, whilst sat at Heathrow they cancelled their return, they paid £1200 for a Virgin flight home, "not our problem" says Norwegian. Just have good insurance.

How ridiculous are the hotel prices in New York. I saw these flights for a similar price in late September. But hotels are just insane
Seems a good price for a flight if you are trying to do NY in a budget.

NY is an expensive place, we spent £800 on food and drink alone for 5 days but can do it far cheaper.

Plenty of cheaper hotels if your stay outside Manhattan and get the subway in each day.

I would suggest there is just as many horror stories about the major carriers as there are with Norwegian, I would be a tad nervous about their financial issues of late though considering how many no frills airlines are going bust and leaving people stranded etc.
Good price but Be careful, Norwegians Dreamliners are currently grounded, just got back with them from Miami and got shifted to a “privilege styles” aircraft from like 1999, very old aircraft and 1 film on repeat in very poor quality for the whole 9 hour flight 👎🏾
Norwegian air is fantastic. Great food, entertainment and free drinks. Highly recommended

Great food... not sure I can agree with that or the free drinks. It’s a free drink at mealtimes on long haul economy? Either way they are great *if* you get a Dreamliner and a good ticket price.
Good Times.

Why are their dreamliners grounded?

Thought it was just the 737 Max.

Try Airbnb
AirBnB isnt available in NYC . But is in New Jersey. 10 mins by train from Jersey city (Newport station to WTC). Had an AirBnB apartment in the Monaco building , modern building , gym and pool, 24 hour reception etc . Worked out around £100 a night for whole apartment (good for 4 ppl).
I stay in Astoria or Long Island City. 1 train and 20 mins later. You emerge at Central Park South or points downtown.
Somewhere like Astoria is ok as you see how real New Yorkers live

Not exactly sure they didn’t offer up an explanation, after a google though found this article below basically saying they replacing all the engines on the dreamliners:

i dont know how every hotel can charge that kind of money. i stayed in 2003 and it was $180 a night but the exchange rate was $2-£1.
Best of luck to anyone booking with Norwegian, both times we've tried to fly them we've had planes and flight times switched on us. First time we had the option to rebook or get a refund, the last time we were basically told there was no option for a refund or rebook and that we had no choice but to accept their changes. Would have been fine if not for being downgraded to a massively inferior plane operated by a massively substandard airline (Wamos and Hi-Fly, check the reviews!).

If you get to actually fly on a Dreamliner operated by Norwegian you'll love it, but in my experience there's a high chance you'll get screwed and piled into some dated plane with no in-flight entertainment and interior maintenance desperately required.

Yeah they have had a bit of bad luck recently. Not sure if the dreamliners are back in service now. If you try to book for a flight in June it still says you will get the dreamliner

Edit: after a bit more reading it seems they are still using a real mixed bag of leased planes. But they are still using the dreamliners on some routes. So worth paying attention when booking, but could easily change!

There is a service needed on all 787 (Dreamliners) on the RR engines and many of Norwegians are in having this done between now and October. Norwegian have leased some HiFly Air busses which may not give you such a good experience as their Dreamliner though the space in econ looks as good though I think that the IFE is older and that woudl not bother me. however if you book premium these planes dont have premium only business so if you are lucky enough to have one of these for your flight and you book Premium you may end up getting a flat bed.

And the EU 261 insurance payout of €600 per person and any cost must have helped

It did indeed! To be fair we preferred that delay and the payout!

Norweigan's share price has nose dived

Gone from 35.62 USD to 3.75 USD in under a year! Good luck if you're booking this for the end of the year, not sure they'll survive that long.

Plenty of alternative websites, which existed before Airbnb existed, still offering short term rentals in NYC.

The problem is, and this includes when Airbnb still offered rentals in NYC, prices were still far too high. They bordered on hotel prices, and for me I'd take a hotel for $10 more a night.

Much better to stay outside as you suggest. Though I prefer Brooklyn.
Yer i got back from Miami on the 20th May, when we booked we was advised dreamliners and only told about the planes being swapped out long after booking, infact we was only told about the return flight being swapped out whilst we was on actual holiday so yer people just gonna have to keep it in mind when booking

It's the most expensive place in the world for hotels based on cost per square metre. It's essentially an island with limited space and high demand.

It's always been expensive, but the weak pound has compounded the situation.

Re Norwegian. Cheap for a reason. For every great experience somebody else gets stuck on a naff plane, massive delays etc. They also can be very problematic in paying compensation, which is clearly because of their financial woes.

If you happen to get the Dreamliner though it's a nice experience. Particularly in Premium Economy.
Just booked a hotel through Agoda for NY arriving new years eve and a few days after. 20 min walk from Times Square, £551 for 4 nights, that's for 4 sharing one room with 2 double beds and a massive 30 sq meter room! Their prices were around half of most others. Free cancellation too
Let’s hope they don’t go bust by then.
