Isn't that normal winter pricing? You should be able to fly with a better airline for that price and time...

Your guess is as good as mine!

I flew with Cathay to NZ recently. It was OK,although the inflight entertainment on most of their planes is a little outdated. Hong Kong airport is nice and spacious and a much better option than going through Los Angeles where you have to go through immigration. When we went Cathay were the cheapest ( 200 pounds each cheaper than Air NZ) so well woth checking out.

Just got back from a 3 week break in Australia this morning - and want to go back..............!

good price, cost me that from london to dunedin nz with royal bruneii airlines 4 yrs ago.

oh btw it was £25 extra tax outwards leaving nz don't forget to add that on top of your expenses

My Mum came over from NZ with them recently and was suitably impressed.

Most of my Kiwi mates chose to fly with Singapore Airlines - they set the standard by the sounds of it, although you may have to pay a bit more.

Who ever you fly with, check the legroom if you are on the taller side. It depends what is important to you...last time I did the trek, it was air NZ via Hong Kong. The time before that was Air NZ from Auckland to Japan and JAL from Japan to London. Swapping between the two carriers, it was obvious the JAL seating was designed for smaller people, but the service was great. Air NZ service wasn't what it used to be but the planes are nice with the usual VOD entertainment etc. Hong Kong airport didn't impress me much compared to the Japanese ones, but nice all the same. Hong Kong is definitely worth spending a night or two though...great place to look around.

If you haven't travelled yet, do it!

NZ$25 I think...£10!

been looking for a vist in june, and i found you could fly emirates in june for £640. Think that was to perth though, but imagine it would be fairly similar, so not an amazing deal, but good none the less.

I think the november flights will be much better value as its getting towards summer then

I've clocked up a few hundred hours with Cathay (my dad used to work for them), they are better than average but certainly not what they used to be. I haven't flown with them for a few years now but I'd put them in line with BA or VA (I've never flown less than club world / premium though so can't comment on their economy class).

Prices never work out to those advertised.

I booked about two weeks ago (direct with Qantas)

London - Bangkok
Bangkok - Adelaide
Cairns - Hong Kong
HK to London

All for £850 inc tax

Cathay want £795 (min) for a simple London - Adelaide return

The $25 airport fee is now included on the taxes/charges of your ticket. You don't have to pay it at the airport anymore!

Never book directly by clicking their link. Get the prices and go to the company web site directly (check with Quidco - most have cashback).

Thankyou all for the tips.
Has anyone here had any personal experience in the places that I will be visiting?
Thankyou
