Return Flights to Brisbane, Australia. Jan 2018 - £508.27 @ Air China

Was looking to head back home for a wedding and was dreading the £800+ return prices. Managed to find very cheap flights with Air China throughout multiple dates in mid January for £508 return! It is a huge 14 and 9 hours layover in Beijing but worth it for the inner tight person that wants to save a decent chunk.

What a shame these aren't one way flight tickets.

I just know my wife would use the return ticket!

airline is shocking, used them once to MNL via PEK.

Cheap price, but if it's not much more to fly with another airline, i would pay the extra for another airline.

Horrid seats and terrible TERRIBLE service with a horrendous transfer through Beijing. I still have back pains from flying with them 10 months on.

Don't forget you can get a free visa waiver for up to 72 hours on way out if you can get a longer stopper. Beijing is well worth a visit.

Flew with them twice now long haul, basic, IFE dreadful, take a good book/Kindle/iPad. Food not great but then most airlines aren't. Requested bland meal on second flight experience and was much better than the previous offerings.

As above, Beijing is a great place to visit. Seems a decent price to me.

All air line food are like rabbit food. Flew we the BA and virgin frequently and they aren't any better. Air China does have a lot of tasty instant noodles tho and very decent selection of biscuits and snacks. You have to pester them a lot to get what you want.

I'll fly with them on next week to Bejing->Bangkok, then around the islands.. hope things will be fine

There are two different planes flying from Heathrow to Beijing, one is Airbus A330, another is Boeing 777.
try to choose the Boeing one, they tend to have relatively more comfortable seats.

HOT! I hope this is still around in December when I'm ready to book

Will the 'inflight meal' be chinese, or can i get fish, chips n mushy peas?

Qatar have a companion fare currently flying out of Oslo or Stockholm to Oz & NZ so long as two travel £1300 pp return in business or 3 for 2 in economy

Air China is great I have flown with them a few times never had any problems

Air China are great and they have some proper hot deals going to Asia in Jan - April.

Done this route twice. Completely, completely agree with posters above. Huge hassle, no communication, change to domestic terminal as short initial flight to Shanghai then on to Brisbane, no one tells you how to do this. Nightmare. Do not book, pay a bit more, if you are able.

Between Beijing and Shanghai? I mean, it should be pretty obvious you need to get to change to a domestic terminal to do an internal flight between two cities in the same country. In Beijing airport there are English speaking staff everywhere, who can tell you how to do that.

I flew to Shen Yang via Beijing on AC and found the experience unpleasant. Firstly, AC is a very basic airline and it showed up in the horrible lukewarm food ,uncomfortable seats and basic entertainment system . The other problem was the transfer at Beijing as their systems are not joined up, luggage unlike in most major airports, needs to be manually taken off the turntable then brought back through customs again. I waited for hours at a turntable for my luggage to finally arrive then had to drag it along a huge and busy airport terminal and never received any assistance or communication. I would pay the extra to avoid that situation again.

I noticed Qantas have flights around £750 for return flights in Jan when I had a quick search last week. Code share is with Emirates.

edit: for those not wanting to fly AC

Had two awful experiences and personally wouldn't touch AC with any length of bargepole. YMMV.

Just checked. Still valid. I checked from 10 Jan to 21 Jan.

What do they serve on these Chinese flights? genuinely curious.

I looked at a deal like this when I was flying to Australia, I decided I want to get there as fast I as I could so chose Emirates.
22 hours with Emirates , it was something like 35 with China Airlines.
Not your average airline and the meals are amazing, real knives and forks as well

Check out Air China reviews on Skytrax....if that doesn't put you off.... its a good price...

I fly to China at least 10 times an year on business and ALWAYS avoid Air China. Most of their crew is rather impolite and indifferent and does not seem to understand what one would need on a long haul flight. And I am talking of Business Class here.

I flew Air China to NZ once - I think I'll pass on using them again.
