Went into Maplin and they were selling single RF Remote control sockets for just £3.50 each. Might be of use for anybody who is using a pi with home assistant and the RF component. DOESN'T come with a remote.

Remote control plug without.a remote Hmmm

This is the manual version, my house came fully installed with the manual plugs, there is a handy switch right next to the outlet where you press it and the socket goes off, press it again and power is restored, it’s amazing.

Also had a built in washing machine however I put 3 shirts in the other day, pulled the chain and haven’t seen the shirts since ?

Not as bad as it sounds, you can get a RF remote for about £2 on ebay. But then again, you can buy 3 plugs and a remote for about £15.
These are 3 for £10 CPC free p.p. Save petrol have delivered to door

If you already have a pack that came with a remote then you might not need another. You can use up to 16 of these on different settings with one remote

The exact remote for these sockets? As in my experience it has to be the exact remote or it won't work.

Pulled the chain??? Was it in the back yard with newspapper on a string hung on the wall?

I don't have the Maplin ones, but I have Status remote sockets and bought a generic 433mhz on/off RF remote (when I lost it). On mines you configure it by assigning each plug with a button on the remote when it's in config mode.
in the london liverpool street branch they were £2 each and a set of 3 with remote was £6.50.
didn't post as i don't like the goose hunt comments
It is true that fitting these devices to sockets to switch something off and on is not necessary for most situations / people . They are however handy for using in hard to reach sockets e.g. behind a cupboard, under a worktop behind a washing machine etc. They are also extremely useful for people who are less abled and who cannot easily operate sockets. I fitted these for my elderly relative as all her sockets were very low down on the wall and she could not easily get down to flick the switch on and off.

I can confirm that it works with Domoticz with RFXtrx 433E dongle.
Good for turning off anything out of reach.. on ceiling or behind a large piece of furniture perhaps?

Only posted as I've recently set up home assistant and wanted a cheap way of having a kind of 'smart plug' without the cost. Bought a pack of 3 with remote from Wilko and got them up and running with home assistant so no longer need the remote anyway. These are the same brand as the Wilko ones. Can now turn on lights in 2 display cabinets and a fan by asking Alexa to do it! Also have the display lights coming on 20 minutes before sunset automatically and off again 5 after I go to bed. Much better than paying £20-£30 for some TP Link plugs or similar.

Thought some may find them useful if they're doing something similar or already have a remote and just want some extra cheap sockets.
