Rib Eye Steak has gone down from £20 to £10 a kilo on the butcher's counter today. This is a really good offer on an excellent cut of beef, I'm normally a Sirloin man myself but I've just got a couple for dinner tonight.

Also the big daddy steak was rump, which is currently £9kg in Morrisons. That means an equivalent steak would be £4.19.

Rib Eye has never been this cheap before though, I honestly thought it was a misprice when I saw the price this morning. I don't know what the stock levels will be like over the weekend, I cut all that we had in today so hopefully there will be more sent in tomorrow.
Time to dust of the barby. Second thoughts, the turkey is still embedded in there with a can of beer - failed Christmas dinner.
Heat added! Went to butchery section of Morrison's and got them to cut 2 pieces about 4cm thick each. Not a fan of the thin frying steaks prepacked on the shelves.
Hi guys. I’m pretty lazy. Can someone work out if this is cheaper than the Aldi big daddy?
Buy a huge chunk and roast it in the oven - delicious
Crazy cheap for ribeye. This is a prime cut, not the junk you get at Aldi.

However, it will be poor quality.

I buy all my meat from the Ginger Pig in London, because they are 10 mins away, it's excellent quality (source of a lot of good restaurants) and the animals have a relatively good life.

I'd rather have high quality, less regularly than this rubbish. If everyone else understood the damage cattle have on this world, it would mean only high quality beef is produced and in much smaller volumes.
If you can't afford it, tough.
Comparing quality of fresh cuts with other supermarkets, Morrisons has been the best overall for me for verity and taste; £10/Kg seems bit cheap for Ribeye though, might have to give some a try..

Yeah that's definitely Rib Eye in the picture, lol.

Obviously I can't speak for other stores but we only received one case of Rib Eye this morning, so I don't know how well stocked everwhere else will be. The one suggestion I usually make to my customers is if you're only coming down for something in particular you can always phone the store ahead to save a wasted journey. They can put you straight through to the butchery department where we can tell you if we've got in what you're after (we don't know ourselves what we're gonna be sent in until we receive our delivery each morning)

But I'd certainly recommend heading down sooner rather than later if you're after some today (especially if you're heading to the Caterham branch, lol)
Just got 2 kg from butchers counter, prepacked is full price £20 kg
Great price for Rib eye just got 1.6kg from my local
Friends not food...

I'm guessing it might be a bit late but you should ask them to check the price. It's been £15kg for the last couple of weeks but went down to £10kg yesterday.
They may not of had the new tickets down for the counter or been told about it as it only went on yesterday, but I'm pretty sure it should be a company wide reduction.

It looks more like a rib eye than pork loin, but then again I'm not a butcher. Are you?

No, but I've worked as a butcher's assistant during my apprenticeship and have learn how to recognise the various cuts...

With some of these meats the proof is in the pudding, ie. You can only tell what meat it is after eating it rather than its appearance.

With kindest regards

The offer is for Rib Eye, the picture is definitely of Rib Eye, and the only mention of Sirloin was when I said I'm usually more of a Sirloin man myself. As John just pointed out the two cuts look nothing alike, and I honestly don't see how you're seeing pork in the picture.

I certainly wouldn't mind buying some meat from you though if you were selling Rib Eye at the price of Pork Loin, lol.
Got 2.5kg today for about £25. Enough steaks for 2 meals. The butcher was surprised st the low price. Great deal.
You will be surprised when you get home and find out its pork loin.
Anyone know how long this is on for?

It will probably be the last day today, offers usually run from Monday - Sunday but as this came on Friday it's probably just for the weekend. Not 100% sure but that's usually the case.
