Meat is murder. Well it is for me sometimes, what with the heartburn.

Ah, go on. Heat.

Offensive post. Pictures of meat make me feel poorly. Mods please ban this fool.

Good ain't it! If you don' like it, don't look at it.

When choosing the right piece, make sure it's got a decent marbled effect and isn't too 'shiny'.

Your dead right there. If it's a bit brown it means it's aged a bit so should be pretty darn good.

The BEST!!!!!
You must be joking. Try a dry cured steak, then you'll know what a great steak is!

Wowzer, £32.80 per kg. They look good, but are they from Uruguay? LOL

The very best Aberdeen Angus.

I find this to be more flavoursome. It's very much personal preference.

Fillet is a very tender area, with virtulaly no fat to speak of, superb for that 'melt in the mouth' texture, perfect for fast cooking as its so tender, or 'wrapped' cooking, as in boef wellington. Ribeye has a lot more fat running through it, hence the marbled effect, it is a lot bolder and stronger in taste, but because the meat is broken by the fatty areas it is also very tender. Sirloin has a tendancy to have large tough areas, Rump is the poor mans ribeye.
Ribeye rules.

I find most meat from supermarkets poor, but these asda vacume packed "the best" are quite passable. I still rather go to a decent butcher though.

Personally,I prefer a leg of corned beef !!!!

or a spam shank

I give you the best steaks money can buy...

A mate is down near there at the moment and is bringing me a couple of ribeye steaks this weekend, can't wait!

Never had a decent steak from ASDA, havent tried for a few years though

Morrisons meat and veg is consistently better than tesco and asda. Just try a rump or sirloin steak from morrisons it fries without a lot of of water seapng out and and you find you can actually taste it.

I agree with this entirely. I often find Asda and tesco meats particularly poor.

Jolly good, thanks for the valuable input.

Hot deal - I prefer this rib eye to the £20.00+ per kg rib eye found elsewhere.

The last rump steak I had from Asda was Irish and was delicious, top quality and very good value. I like fillet but it does tend to lack flavour compared to steak with more fat in the meat.

Remember for fresh food you rely on the purchaser which can vary all over the country - I don't buy the generalisations like "Morissons is better than Sainsburys" for fresh food. In THIS town, one might be better than another. My local Asda is good for fruit & veg & fish.

Well I can only go on what I ate last night and it was pretty special, so I have no problem recommending Asda steak.

Gonna get some more today lol

Great deal, heat and rep'.

I'd choose Ribeye over fillet or sirloin any day, it's my personal choice.

Thank You Foxy.

+1.

My nearest tesco is 2 miles. My nearist butcher is 11 miles. When I have to buy red meat, its the butcher every time. There is no comparison.

I bet all these bleeding heart liberals who are so sanctimonious about the food we eat, drive around in cars all day polluting the air I have to breathe, but of course that's okay isn't it because it suits them.

anyone had a kobe steak they are supposed to be the best steak in the world?

I disagree. Properly aged Scotch beef rules.
All personal preference though, of course.

Spurious. Totally on a tangent. Reactionary and ill thought response exactly what I expected having seen your previous thicko post. Didn't know that Hitler was a bleeding heart liberal.

Has anyone actually had quality meat from asda? Out of the "big four" they sell by far, the worst quality fresh meat:x so cold from me I'm afraid
