Richer Sounds have a clearence section on there website, whilst browsing since yesterday i have noticed a *significant* price drop on all flat screen televisions, some have halved in price since yesterday. INSTORE only ofc

26" Sets seem to be £199.95
32" Sets seem to be £249.95
37" Sets seem to be £299.95
40/42" Sets seem to be £369.95
46" Sets seem to be £449.95
50" Sets seem to be £499.95

These screens are either Brand new / Opened Box or Ex Repair. RING local shop to check stock, im sure they are desperate to clear it all out.

For example

Sharp LC46XL2E was over £850 now its just £450
richersounds.com/sho…on=

LG 42lg6000 was over £650 now its only £370
richersounds.com/sho…000

This is region dependant so ive linked to the clearence section but different shops have different stock, just take a look at your local and click on that section. This is a country wide drop!

Each tv has a 12 month warrenty regardless of condition ( OB / ex display etc ), some have 5yr for only 10% of price. I believe this is an ongoing thing

Also if anyone has any questions regarding if a specific set is any good, or wondering about spec please either pm me or post here. Ill do my very best to reply because im very familiar with all this stuff!

Some real bargains here

voted hot!!

my wife an i purchased the Sharp LC46XD1E just after we got married in sep 2007 and paid £1100 from richer sounds in leeds for it, now its reduced to £450!! gutted but crackin' deal and would recommend it to anyone.

I'm not so keen on old high energy models and second hand stock. Usually a lot of 'hipe but just hot air' when you look closer.

You find the real bargains when there is no sale on.

Thing is this stock comes with a 12 month warrenty, much of which is simply "discontinued" models but still brand new stock.
Richers also offer a fairly priced 5 yr warrenty which wouldn't be much more at these sorts of prices...

Saying that though i spent £1644 on my Pioneer PDPLX5090 just before christmas, makes me wonder how many televisions i could have had lying around my house for the same price!

hot hot!
Sony KDL40V3000 LCD TV £369.95

smaller? more energy efficient? also are there any large CRTs out there that offer Full HD output at these kinds of prices?

not arguing here, just some of the reasons seem quite obvious to me. then again i have not seen a CRT for sale in a number of years!

wow. scorching

bit gutted I bought the 32V4000 from JL now. Might have gone for one of those £300 37" jobs

Plamas there also No issues with motion blur.

Also on the same note though why would anyone want a CRT? sticks out in your living room like a sore thumb, cannot easily connect media pcs. All sorts of geometry issues, and obviously no high definition. Fair enough SD looks miles better but all the other benefits of a flat screen far outweigh the negatives.

Every tech has its plus and minus.

Very hot, ] Sharp 42" for £369.95 and a great set I bought for twice this price a year or so ago.

ahhhh the troll
cats brain, 1000 times SLOWER than normal peoples

Some great prices, looks like the offers expire close of play today, get in quick!

Is Sharp LC42XD1E has got similiar spec than Sharp LC46XL2E except for the size?
Appreciate if someone can post the links for the spec and reviews.
Thanks.

Just called my nearest Richer Sounds to see what they had in stock and was told that clearance stock is ex-display or ex-repair. The chap suggested that I call in to check out the condition of the items.

Thought I'd post this as it may not be just open box or end of line stock.

what store was that?

Just called the Bromley store, they still have this: Philips 37PFL7662 it's a customer return with no remote and they'll only give a 3mnth warranty with no option to extend.

Not being funny, but anything ex display or open boxed saying condition and accessories supplied may vary are basically second hand and prices should reflect that, so not a massive bargain really.... Not to mention an ex display item will have been on 9-6 every day for months so it's probabaly pretty knackered inside.

I'm sure there are some unopened end of line discontinued gems to be found, but i would avoid the above.

This is incorrect, im 100% sure its 12 month warrenty. NONE tvs are only 3 month, televisions are 12 month. Check out the website, it says clearly at the bottom its a 12 month. Misinformed colleague perhaps?

* Open Box = ex-display; mail order returns; or ex-service products … * Open Box = ex-display; mail order returns; or ex-service products thoroughly tested and guaranteed.** Our LCD and Plasmas come with 12 months warranties - anything under 32" has a ‘Return to Store’ warranty, anything 32" or over comes with an ‘At Home Warranty’.

As far as the 5 year warrenty goes, this will only be on certain televisions and that is up to the store / colleague, i think they allow it on open box and ex display units but not ex repair.

Obviously there will be some junk in this lot but there is some real gems also, my friend picked up a brand new 32" set just today from my local store which had been dropped in price also.

Just so you know, Richer Sounds have the most fantastic customer service.

I bought an amp from them cheap as chips, it died (overheated) after 5 months. No prob they sent one next day by 12 and took the broken one away. The replacement overheated and burst into flames 16 months after it arrived. So this is 21 months after my original £70 purchase. I sent them an e-mail not because i was expecting a replacement but because I thought there might be issues with the unit that could pose a danger.

They said we are really sorry here have this different model better quality amp next day by 12 with another years warranty.

I know cynics might just say they are covering themselves but they didn't have to do that and I think in todays world of **** service and shops that like to treat you as though they are doing you a favour by taking your cash they deserve a gold star.

richersounds.com/sho…on=

Pretty damn cheap, though it does get some pretty awful reviews...

Heat added anyway

I was really worried about motion blur too but most of the new models I've seen do not suffer from it at all (new meaning in the last 6 months). You can't get 42" crt's lol

Actually their is/was a couple of crt HD tv's available at one time ]example, Don't think they did too well though, Samsung had quite a few gripes with the couple of models they made, Think Philips made one as well but seen that HD crt wasn't the way forward and backed out.

It's a pitty in some ways because in truth if they made a 50" crt HD tv the picture quality would be amazing.

LCD and Plasma are obviously a lot more appealing than a great big box, I assume LCD/Plasma are cheaper to manufacture and given time will eventually get better as the technology improves. They also apparently live longer than crt's.

However I think LCD/Plasma's will only have a relatively short period of dominance, Sony have developed an oled tv which is millimetres thick, More energy efficient and has far better quality reproduction. Cheaper to manufacture as it's plastic, It's also flexible...!!!.]example

Aye hopefully we will see OLED / SED and Laser Televisions on the market for reasonable prices shortly....

I remember the Samsung CRT HDTVs... they were rubbish. My friend had with the most obvious purple circle in one corner. I would never personally own a CRT again though, due to 2 things... Connectivity and Size.

I have 2 plasmas 50" Pioneer 9G Kuro Plasma and a 32" LG Plasma. Both excellent sets, obviously my Pioneer is much much better but the LG is good for what it is and is the *only* 32" plasma ( not a great fan of lcds... )

These are bargains, i picked up a clearance TV from the Middlesbrough store and even though it was ex display,it still had its accys so if there are any available in your area then its worth checking out, remember its not just tvs there are many other clearance items.

satnam99;4090823

smaller? more energy efficient?

They aren't more energy efficient mate - your average lcd at say 40" is around 200W - a 36" CRT is around 100W.

My Panasonic TH42PX80 is only 225w which isnt bad for a 42" Plasma

i think these are just the clearance bargains that are always on richersounds website. Certainly the scottish stores stock hasnt changed at all for ages so dunno if its really a 'deal'

Agreed! January Sales are over-hiped and cleverly engineered to make people think they are saving cash when infact they are buying old stock and paying the going rate!

example..rrp £2000 now only £600!! people actually fall for this, they dont realise that the quoted rrp is that of 2 years ago!

I tried calling , but could not reserve what i was looking for...brilliant deal...

Usually lcd's take up the least power when power is compared per inch.
I am really surprised if your 36" really takes 100W. Are you sure its not 100W minimum up to something like 250W? I've seen 19" crt sets rated more than 100W.

edit: oh its you! the anti-n00b.... we meet again...

Yep but in this case, the prices of LCDs and Plasmas have dropped since yesterday. Now all televisions of a certain size are a certain price as i detailed in the first post. Not really a "stock" change more of a fairly hefty price drop.
