sorted byreally? oO you may as well post on a topic about cornflakes and suggest they buy cheese instead.
That must be the reason for all the £2000 amps.
That analogy is on the extreme side
What you get paying more is a more powerful amplifier. The amount of 7.2 AV's on the market with a 500w power supply is concerning.
Mid/high-end speakers can be damaged with a weak amplifier that can't provide enough power at high volumes. Read up on clipping.
Even though more money may reward extra features, most of time those features require better hardware that costs more.
Which costs money to implement. Read above.
If you can't bi-amp that's fine just connect the speaker the same as any other speaker.
A good set of headphones are great but a high-end sound system is something else, not just more expensive
Don't forged the amplifier and sub. It would sound great

Agreed. I've simplified to Spotify Premium + Google Chromecast + roughly £200 amp + speakers.
Think I'm enjoying music more now than when I was fretting about DACs and lossless compression.

thanks for the heads up, corrected
Looks like Tannoy have discontinued these, hence the sudden price drop. Build quality should be very good.
Worth a go.
You only need to use 2 wires to connect the speaker.
The speaker has 2 extra connection if you want to bi-wire/bi-amp.
The fifth connection is useless/ground???

I never ventured from realm of headphone audiophilia; much wiser hobby.
Well if it was £999 I'd want it to be the best.

No; this is just a tribute.
You can get a much better Sony for £299, proven audio quality.
For music a centre speaker is pretty pointless, most of it's stereo and your amp is making up the other channels, invariably badly.
Why waste money on this?
Because the range in the OP sounds better.

2050 setup. This should do a great fit to the existing setup.
they take care of voice in a 5.1 system, so you need at least 5 more. it only makes sense if you buy the matching stuff.
an amp is an amp, you are being a snob imo. difference between £200 amp and £1000 amp in terms of sound quality is not much
They have lots of HDMI ports, fancy gimmicks, AirPlay, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi.
In terms of sound quality not much difference.

It is designed for Bi-wiring - High Frequency (HF) Left, Low Frequency (LF) Left, HF right, LF right - plus a dedicated grounding connector. It will probably come with a HF-LF connector bridge to make it standard left and right otherwise just bridge them with a scrap of cable. You do not have to use the dedicated ground.
Please go to the beginners section for speakers.
You don't need to buy a £2000 amplifier to benefit from these speakers. Just don't buy an underpowered one.
You can probably use this as a tv stand...
Put a hundred hifi fans in a room with them and they'll hear a hundred different things. There's no such thing as best in a world where fools pay £100's for a better mains cable, presumably to ensure all the spikes and noise on the mains reaches their sound kit better
Even if they were the best, they still have to be reasonably matched to at least the front pair or even the cloth eared should notice something's not right.
