Hope this equation is tongue-in-cheek!

Since I watched Britain's Really Disgusting Foods on BBC3 last week and saw how processed sausages were actually made, and most importantly what from, I don't think I'll touch one of those ever again, not even with a pole... Shocking! Great taste but do you know what you're actually eating?
]BBC's Website

The program is not available on iPlayer anymore but just look it up in YouTube, sit down and educate yourself. Take my word for it, you won't regret making the time for it. The most shocking TV program about food I've seen.

And if that still doesn't deter you, well, then I guess this is a good deal, so I'll have to vote it hot regardless.

they are sick, 50% pork is bad, what's the other **** in them?

Tastiest?
You may like them, that's your prerogative but tasty they are NOT, in fact they are completely at the opposite end of the taste scale, salty and BLAND!

Poverty might have driven people to eat some rubbish, but liking it is another thing altogether

Either that or he writes speeches for the Prime Minister! ;-)

Well that is just a misleading comment.

BREATHING causes cancer, but just try doing without it.

I presume you are referring to what? Free radicals caused by cooking, or preservatives, nitrites, or just eating meat at all?
Those and a mass of other things food related have been implicated in causing cancer, but a comment like that without any substance is just a form of Trolling :-(

Of course breathing causes cancer... ask all the victims of passive smoking - the statement I made was EXACTLY the same sort of vague meaningless remark that you made to illustrate that remark, it is perfectly true though, but doesn't it sound stupid! :-(
Similarly, just as reactionary and as a demonstration as to how pathetic this sort of comment can get, it is just as easy to say death is always caused by shortage of breath.

Like I said this is a well established form of trolling - wild statements designed to elicit an even wilder response, but at least we now know what the scaremongering element is about! :-)

For one, the first and last items are coverage on the SAME report.
One item is mainly about the risk of FAT and cancer, and also one report is based on food colouring E128, and not all sausage contains colouring at all, let alone E128, so I think that might be seen as a completely different issue.

So that leaves the ONE big issue: cancer risk is said to be increased by eating processed meats. It was made by the World Cancer Research Fund.
I remember the report at the time, and it lasted a mere split second, I would suggest that for one important reason - it was based on ONE "expert" opinion, and unusually for this sort of thing, no others seem to have rushed in to support the extreme view. I
He may well have had a point, but for something that has been happening for many many thousands of years, it can't be much of a point!

It is generally seen that cutting down on preservatives in meat product is no bad thing, and cooking them which produces trans fats and free radicals are something to cut down on too, but even then, the argument against the health problems that arise from lowering preservative content or eating raw or undercooked meat need to come into the equation too, so even that is no absolute argument.

I have better things to do than to sit here at gone Midnight, defending the pros and cons of eating sausages, & that is already more time than it deserves - For one thing Richmond sausages are far from good enough to warrant that much effort!:-(
